General Purpose

Leads and directs regional level New Product Sourcing, Sourcing and Supply Mgt, Supplier Quality, and Indirect Procurement functions to achieve business objectives. Provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of definitive, compliant, and competitive long-term sourcing strategies to support and continuously improve value streams and supply chains in support of operations and sales.

Essential Functions

• Leads new product sourcing, supplier management and performance, and supplier quality across the region. Ensures compliance with corporate policies, practices, standards, and local level laws.
• Responsible for achievement of area goals including but not limited to on-time delivery, quality, cost savings, value-engineering and value analysis, sustainability improvements, and competitive lead times.
• Manages and supports strategic and commercial ongoing business relationships between suppliers and MillerKnoll.
• Ensure the successful launch of new product development initiatives and implementation of major product extensions or enhancements through facilitating collaboration between sourcing, engineering, product, and operations teams.
• Attracts, develops, and retains team members to achieve a dynamic workforce operating at its fullest potential. Leads, coaches and mentors assigned teams and individuals.
• Accountable for determining and maintaining appropriate staffing levels and maintaining a safe and positive employee relations environment.
• Connects with the corporate Global Supply and Quality teams to ensure aligned strategies in new product introductions, localizations, supply compliance, risk mitigation, and quality.
• Participates as an active member of the Regional Operations Leadership Team to establish long-term strategies, resource allocations, and business imperatives; leadership development; and development and implementation of annual chart of work activities to support China Business annual objectives.
• Supports team with capturing data, analyses, and reports to include on-time delivery %, lead time achievement, supplier quality performance, and cost savings and enhancements for use in strategic decision-making.
• Provides direction of direct reports to continually improve the skill set of the team to meet changes in the profession, creates and measures goals that support the business strategies, assists in prioritizing workload when conflicts/questions arise, and removes obstacles that impede progress within the chart of work in support of work team development.
• Reviews existing materials and processes and identifies areas for improvement. Participates in and may lead MillerKnoll Performance System (MKPS) continuous improvement initiatives within area (e.g. 8-Step problem solving, kaizen, etc)
• Supports the creation of a dynamic supply base through connection and alignment of commodity strategies and initiatives with business objectives in support of local level, regional level, and global level goals.
• Monitors commodity market economics (e.g. cost drivers, commodity movements, currency fluctuations, etc) through market analysis to understand global influences to the supply base / logistics and creates strategies to leverage or mitigate these dynamics for MillerKnoll’s benefit.
• Utilizes facts observable on the shop floor to achieve agreement with supplier on current cost elements and uses understanding of the MillerKnoll Performance System (MKPS) to build targets for future attainment.
• Understands and applies formal project management principles to work, as appropriate. Influences others to meet milestones and coordinates work of others. Leads cross-functional project teams.
• Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/ Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Business (MBA) strongly preferred.
• 10 years of experience Manufacturing/ Distribution/ New Product Development environments with five years of successful leadership experience is critical or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

The following or equivalent relevant supply chain and sourcing certifications are preferred.

Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) – Institute for Supply Management (ISM)

Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) Certifications in Supply Chain Management (CPM, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD)

Certified Procurement and Supply Institute of Asia (PASIA) certifications (CISCP, CSSP, CSPP)

Skills and Abilities

• Expert knowledge of Sourcing, and Supply Chain functions, domestic and international sourcing strategies, and how they interrelate to business operations.
• Demonstrated skill in complex negotiations, process re-engineering, and supply chain management skills. Proven knowledge of multiple disciplines, including Materials Management, Operations, Distribution.
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize information systems solutions to problems and the ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the MillerKnoll office environment.
• Demonstrated leadership competence as defined in MillerKnoll's Leadership Competency Model.
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
• Expert verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
• English as expected company business language.
• Proven business acumen with strong financial literacy.
• Approximately 15-20% travel required.
