This is a unique opportunity for an experienced nursing education leader to influence clinical practice and professional development across a growing region of acute care hospitals. The Regional Director of Education serves as a strategic partner to executive nursing leadership, helping shape the future of nursing through evidence-based education, leadership development, academic partnerships, nurse residency programs, and clinical excellence initiatives.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

The Regional Director of Education is more than an education leader. This role serves as a regional clinical education strategist responsible for elevating nursing practice, supporting workforce development, improving retention, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth across multiple facilities. This position offers a rare opportunity to influence nursing education and professional development across multiple hospitals within a nationally recognized health system. Working in partnership with regional and hospital leadership teams, the Regional Director of Education helps shape the future of nursing practice by supporting new graduate nurses, experienced clinicians, preceptors, clinical educators, and nursing leaders.

The Regional Director of Education plays a vital role in advancing clinical excellence, supporting workforce development strategies, strengthening academic partnerships, and driving educational programs that improve both caregiver and patient outcomes. Ideal candidates are collaborative leaders who enjoy building relationships, mentoring others, developing innovative educational programs, and creating meaningful impact across diverse acute-care environments.

Regional Coverage

This position supports hospitals within Prime Healthcare's Texas market and may be based in either the Dallas-Fort Worth area or the Rio Grande Valley. The role provides exposure to diverse hospital environments, varying patient populations, and executive leadership teams while offering the opportunity to influence education strategies across an entire region.

Responsibilities

The Regional Director of Education will complete a regional assessment of educational needs and will work with the Regional CNO to establish an annual educational plan for the Region. The Regional Director of Education will supervise the Regional Education Coordinator and ensure that education assignments for the Region are assigned, monitored, and completed. The Regional Director of Education will create and facilitate the delivery of specialty education via virtual platforms utilizing Clinical Educators: SME. The Director will collaborate with nursing schools for clinical placements to create potential recruitment pipelines for Prime facilities. The Regional Director of Education’s primary responsibility is to oversee the success and growth of the new hire programs, standardize educational training, support preceptors, and play an active, engaged role in the hospital on units and with nursing leadership to forward and support educational and organizational goals. The Regional Director of Education provides continued educational support, training and mentoring to new grad, novice, and experienced Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Vocational / Practical Nurses (LVN/LPN), ensuring a smooth transition to practice by providing unit-based support and coordinating the needs and resources for each new nurse by follow up during and after the orientation period and throughout the training period. The Regional Director of Education will serve as a clinical liaison between education and clinical Directors, Managers and Coordinators, to facilitate a timely release from orientation by assessing needs and performance in live time. Once needs are identified, targeted knowledge and skill deficits can be addressed through the coordination of available resources. Addressing the specific needs of each new nurse will ensure their role development success as well as enhance patient outcomes. The Regional Director of Education will work to support the role of Preceptors so that both preceptors and new hires are supported and successful. The Regional Director of Education will maintain knowledge and expertise as an SME in a specific area of nursing practice and will be responsible for providing education in this area of expertise under direction of the Regional CNO. The Regional Director of Education will be responsible for providing education virtually and/or in person to support other Prime facilities in their area of expertise. Travel may be required.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate directly with Chief Nursing Officers and executive leadership teams across the region
  • Influence educational strategy for multiple acute-care hospitals
  • Drive nursing excellence, clinical competency, and professional development initiatives
  • Build and strengthen relationships with nursing schools, colleges, and academic partners
  • Support nurse residency, onboarding, leadership development, and succession planning programs
  • Lead educational initiatives that positively impact nurse engagement, retention, and patient outcomes
  • Mentor educators, preceptors, and emerging nursing leaders throughout the region
  • Contribute to Pathway to Excellence®, Magnet® readiness initiatives, and professional practice advancement efforts

This role offers the ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on engagement, allowing the Regional Director to remain closely connected to frontline teams while influencing regional nursing education initiatives and organizational goals.
