About the role

Our Electrification & Innovation (E&I) business empowers Australians to transition towards a cleaner energy future. As an end-to-end electrification business, we focus on developing leading, sustainable and scalable electrification products at pace, constantly improving our offerings to deliver the best value to our customers.

The Business Analyst - Electrification (Product Development) is responsible for supporting the development, delivery and iteration of electrification products. Working closely with a Product Owner, this role develops product features, working closely with cross-functional resources including Service Designers, Marketing Specialists, Growth Managers and Digital and Technology resources.
 

It further leverages subject matter expertise from across AGL to support product development and ensure products comply with relevant regulations and standards. This role sits within an E&I value stream which is responsible for the end-to-end incubation and commercial development of new products and offerings.
 

Key Accountabilities:
 

• Requirements Analysis: Support the Product Owner to develop and iterate product features and requirements through desktop research and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Prototyping and Feature Development: Create prototypes and product features in conjunction with cross-functional team members.
• User Engagement: Conduct user research to gain insights into user needs, preferences, and behaviors related to electrification products. Engage with end-users through surveys, interviews, and usability testing to inform the development process.
• Data Analysis and Insights: Undertake a range of tasks that involve analysing data and presenting insights. This includes extracting data and processing it for basic product reporting; analysing sales, channels and customer data; and analysing market/competitor data for ‘horizon one’ (near term).
• Testing: Own the execution of test cases, scripts, and scenarios to identify and report defects, anomalies, and inconsistencies. This includes all aspects of product functionality, performance, and user experience.
• Documentation Ownership: Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, data flow charts, and process flows, to aid in the understanding of the products being developed.
• Compliance: Stay informed about relevant regulations and laws on emerging technologies related to electrification products and apply this to product development.
• Fungibility: Be adaptable to work on different activities across product design, development, and iteration simultaneously as required by the Product Owner. This includes willingness to embrace new tasks, applying a growth mindset to upskilling yourself.
• Problem Solving: Actively engage in problem-solving activities throughout the development lifecycle. Identify issues, obstacles, or challenges that need to be solved, working collaboratively with the team to devise effective and timely solutions.

Key Requirements:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in a subject related to business, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• Proven experience (2+ years) within a business analysis or product development role, demonstrating the ability to effectively problem solve.
• Previous experience working on consumer electrification products in Australia.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, such as user manuals and/or system architecture diagrams.
• Familiarity navigating relevant regulations and laws on emerging technologies.
• Ability to engage with and manage stakeholders at various levels, including executives and end-users.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to systematically identify, isolate, and report defects.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
