Job Description

Manages several underwriting professionals. Reviews and ensures conformance with underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures by subordinate underwriters. Recommend changes in underwriting policies and procedures. Underwrites the large or more complex risks or provides final approval for those underwritten by subordinates.

• Provide support to account manager

• Managing of Underwriting Team, work distribution flow

• Underwriting Management

• Claims Management

• Credit Committee Preparation of Files for new Facilities and reinsurance applications

• New Business

• Risk assessment

• Legal Documents and liaising with Attorneys

• Managing Reviews

• Approving Guarantee Wordings

• Approval of Quotations

• Approval of Invoicing

• Liaising with Brokers, policyholders, all other stakeholders

• Mentoring and training - Junior Staff

• Any other tasks that may be required by management

• Applicants must have Matric and a tertiary qualification in Commerce (NQF Level 6-7 or equivalent)

• Proficiency in Excel & Word

• Good communication skills are essential

• Fluent in English

• The successful applicant should be able to manage a large workload and deliver with the time restraints.

• Attention to technical details. 

• Sound business acumen.

• 5-7 Years experience Senior Underwriter / Bonds and Surety Market advantage

• Drivers License

• RE5

• Financial background.
