Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the entire facility or assigned department during the assigned shift. This includes ensuring that safety, quality, production, maintenance, sanitation, and personnel requirements are properly met at all times. This role will be “on-the-floor” providing ongoing support of the daily departmental operations and may be on or off-line as needed or determined by the Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate daily production and cleaning activities and schedules to meet business objectives.
• Ensure that production efficiencies are maximized and waste is minimized.
• Ensure positive employee relations and maximize labor efficiency.
• Properly address and handle operational, maintenance, and employee issues in a timely manner.
• Strive to meet identified goals.
• Provide all aspects of leadership for department employees. Personnel responsibilities include, but not limited to: shift scheduling, team building, maintaining high level of motivation & morale, training, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, attendance monitoring and disciplinary action where appropriate.
• Properly and effectively communicate to employees, peers, and management.
• Establish clear responsibilities and expectations for each position and ensure that each employee meets these standards.
• Enforce and ensure compliance with all rules, policies, programs, and procedures, including but not limited to GMP’s, SQF, Safety, Quality, Regulatory (State and Federal), Company, and Plant.
• Conduct Incident Investigations for accidents, damage, mishaps, etc. in a timely manner and appropriately follow up with any identified corrective action.
• Work jointly with production control, customer service and Warehousing to ensure order fulfillment requirements are met accurately and on time.
• Maintain solid customer satisfaction levels relating to quality and accuracy while ensuring the highest level of operational efficiencies.
• Operational responsibilities to include, but not limited to: inventory management, shift start meetings, create & implement training processes, housekeeping, research/resolve filling errors and implement corrective actions.
• Equipment/Machinery: Ensure equipment is properly maintained and fully operational, work jointly with the maintenance organization on all equipment/machinery issues.
• Ensure that the highest level of housekeeping, cleaning, and sanitation is maintained at all times.
• Administer coaching and corrective action as necessary.
• Assume increased responsibilities as production requirements dictate.
• Adjust work shifts dependent upon production and staffing needs.
• Assume production manager responsibilities as needed in their absence.
• Additional Duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred at some facilities.
• At least 5 years’ experience in Dairy Manufacturing environment. May require 3 years at a supervisory level in a production environment depending upon facility.
• Experience working with HTST pasteurization (site-dependent).
• Experienced in inventory management systems (site-dependent).

Skills and Competencies:
• Good computer knowledge is essential. (RSView, Excel, Word)
• Ability to work well with people.
• Good math skills working with fractions, percents and decimals.
• Self-motivated and the ability to positively coach and motivate others.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills, comfortable in speaking before groups.
• Excellent organization skills.

Safety Responsibilities:
• Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules.
• Report unsafe observations or conditions.
• Immediately report an injury or accident to a manager.
• Meet all company requirements for training, including but not limited to Log Out/Tag Out, HazMat Technician, PPE, PIT, Ergonomics, etc.

SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:
• Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.
• At some facilities, maintaining the master list of documents.
• At some facilities, maintain the Food Defense and Emergency Preparedness program.
• Report food safety problems to a manager.
• Position is backed up by other Production Supervisors, Working Supervisors and/or Production Manager.

• Factory environment
• Varying noise and heat levels.
• Responsibilities allow occasional opportunity for varying work routine.

Physical Requirements:
• Stand: Long periods (minimum of 6 hours)
• Sitting: Occasionally for short periods.
• Walking: Frequently.
• Bending: Occasionally.
• Twisting of Spine: Occasionally.
• Lifting: Light (< 30 lbs) infrequently.
• Carrying: Light (30-50 lbs) infrequently, distance 100 ft.
• Pushing/Pulling: < 75 lbs without assistance infrequently.

• Able to work Holidays.
• Champion positive and safe work environment

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is
$76,000$85,000 USD
