Job Description:

Role Summary
The Customer Master Data Lead serves as the organization’s escalation point for complex customer master data decisions, protecting the integrity of the customer golden record by resolving ambiguous, conflicting, or high-impact issues related to ownership, hierarchy, critical attributes, duplicates, and account relationships.

The role applies governance standards, business context, and sound judgment to determine the right path forward when standard processes do not provide a clear answer, partnering across Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, IT, and Digital to keep customer data accurate, scalable, and aligned with enterprise needs.

Key Outcomes

• Maintain accurate and trusted customer golden records.
• Work through customer master data matters that prove too complex for existing processes.
• Ensure customer hierarchies, ownership assignments, and critical attributes are consistently managed.
• Resolve data conflicts that impact multiple teams, systems, or business processes.
• Prevent the introduction of inaccurate, duplicate, or conflicting customer data.
• Enable reliable reporting, customer management, and operational execution through sound data stewardship.

Core Responsibilities

Customer Data Governance

• Act as a critical escalation point for complex customer master data issues and disputes.
• Make governance-based decisions regarding customer structure, hierarchy alignment, duplicate management, and critical customer attributes when standards do not provide a clear answer.
• Exercise independent judgment to resolve ambiguous or conflicting customer data scenarios while balancing business needs, enterprise standards, and long-term data integrity.
• Document and communicate significant governance decisions that impact customer data standards.

Data Stewardship & Decision Management

• Evaluate and resolve complex customer data issues that require interpretation beyond standard procedures.
• Determine appropriate customer hierarchy structures and account relationships.
• Review and approve exceptions to established customer data standards where necessary.
• Ensure governance decisions are consistently applied across customer records.

Data Quality & Risk Resolution

• Identify high-impact data quality issues that could affect reporting, customer experience, sales execution, integrations, or downstream business processes.
• Assess data risks and determine the most appropriate correction path for complex or sensitive customer records.
• Oversee resolution of duplicate records, conflicting customer attributes, incorrect ownership, and hierarchy misalignment.
• Identify recurring patterns in complex data issues and recommend targeted safeguards or standard updates where needed.
• Maintain decision consistency across similar customer master data scenarios.
• Communicate the rationale, impact, and required follow-up for significant customer master data decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience entering or maintaining data in Salesforce or similar systems
• Familiarity with structured data standards or business rules
• High attention to detail
• Clear communication
