We are looking for an experienced accounting professional that thrives in serving as a trusted advisor. The Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance for our 9-family-owned funeral homes, providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth and profitability. This is a leadership position that will have multiple direct reports. Our accounting team consistently delivers excellence through meticulous attention to detail, strategic financial planning, and a commitment to upholding ethical and transparent financial practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements/reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, driving efficiency and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Identify process improvements to enhance financial operations.
- Collaborate with owners, leadership, and departments to support overall business objectives. Assists in identifying and mitigating potential future risk.
- Assist in research, analysis, and remediation of complex data issues.
- Responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, sales tax, and other applicable tax laws. Ensures the accurate completion of all required reports and analyses e.g. month end and year end closings, financial analysis, annual audit, etc.
- Provide leadership for maintaining the company’s accounting and other business information systems.
- Assist with benefit administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Excellent analytical, technical, accounting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Quick Books Online, Quick Books Bill Pay, Paylocity, and SharePoint preferred.
