This role will be onsite 5 days a week out of our Juneau, Wisconsin office. Our team of 700+ passionate pet people thrives on collaboration, innovation, and the occasional office cameo from a four-legged friend.

Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of these departments, including receiving, storing, and shipping goods, supporting inventory accuracy, arranging inbound and outbound logistics, fulfilling customer orders, optimizing product flow, and managing teams. The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor will work closely with the Supply Chain, Planning, and Production teams to meet all daily requirements and with senior leadership to make Whisker the employer of choice in our region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directly supervises a team of 20–30+ associates, ensuring consistent achievement of performance metrics, productivity standards, and daily operational goals.
- Oversees day-to-day warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving, pick and pack, material handling, inventory management, and overall warehouse organization.
- Leads team members across multiple shifts, both directly and through hourly Team Leads, to ensure departmental goals and operational priorities are achieved.
- Coaches and mentors Team Leads to strengthen their leadership capabilities, encourage self-evaluation, identify development opportunities, and promote continuous growth and accountability.
- Develops, monitors, analyzes, and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establishes and maintains warehouse procedures and best practices to drive safety, accuracy, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Oversees the verification, handling, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments while ensuring inventory records remain accurate and current.
- Conducts and oversees cycle counts, investigates inventory discrepancies, and implements corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Identifies operational issues, performs root-cause analysis, and develops sustainable countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Conducts and participates in forklift training while ensuring the safe and proper operation of warehouse equipment.
- Coordinates activities with third-party warehouses, carriers, vendors, and other external partners as needed.
- Partners with Planners/Expeditors to execute shipping, litter, inventory, and related administrative responsibilities.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Sales, Purchasing, Records Control, and other departments to coordinate warehouse activities and support business needs.
- Participates in the hiring, onboarding, training, and development of warehouse personnel; assigns work and supports workforce planning based on current and future operational needs.
- Compiles, analyzes, and reports information related to the receipt, storage, maintenance, and distribution of inventory.
- Maintains working knowledge of applicable company policies, operational processes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards and ensures team compliance.
- Adjusts working hours as needed to provide leadership coverage and support business requirements across shifts and operational areas.
- Performs additional responsibilities and supports other areas of the business as operational needs require.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Directly supervises department Teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following Whisker policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing team issues, and upholding safety and quality guidelines. May manage multiple production areas to help cover when other leadership is unavailable.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring:
- BA or equivalent years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, and/or logistics environment that included pick-and-pack and fulfillment enterprises
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a high-volume warehouse and distribution environment, preferably within a direct-to-customer business model
- Experience shipping and/or receiving domestic and international orders
- Experience operating manufacturing equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet riders, and manual and/or electric pallet jacks

- Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate through department and one-on-one meetings.

- Experience working with SAP (ERP system)
- Experience working with FedEx, DHL, UPS, USPS, and/or third-party logistics partners

The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus as needed to safely perform job duties.
