Position Summary

Houchens Food Group is seeking a Food Equipment Service Technician responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on food service and meat-processing equipment located throughout our grocery stores.

This position supports store operations by ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and operating properly. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working independently in an active grocery store environment.

Work Hours & On-Call Expectations

Regular work schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Some after-hours, weekend, and on-call work may be required to respond to urgent equipment issues.

The technician must be flexible when critical equipment failures occur outside normal business hours.

Travel to Houchens Food Group store locations will be required as part of the position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial food-service and meat-processing equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failures and extend equipment life.
• Respond to equipment service calls and communicate repair status with store management.
• Identify required replacement parts and assist with ordering parts and materials.
• Install or replace equipment and components as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventive maintenance, parts, and equipment condition.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and company safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle.
• Communicate equipment concerns and recommend repair or replacement when appropriate.
• Provide professional and courteous service to store personnel.
• Additional projects/duties as assigned.

Commercial fryers

Ovens

Hot tables and food warmers

Grills and griddles

Proofers

Other commercial deli and food-preparation equipment

Meat Department Equipment

Equipment may include:

Meat saws

Meat grinders

Meat tenderizers

Slicers

Wrapping and packaging equipment

Other meat-processing equipment

Qualifications

• Experience with commercial kitchen, restaurant, grocery, or food-processing equipment preferred.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, switches, controls, heating elements, and related components.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical information.
• Ability to use electrical meters, hand tools, and power tools safely.
• Ability to diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate repairs.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel to Houchens Food Group store locations as required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work around commercial equipment for extended periods. Must be able to safely lift and move tools, parts, and equipment associated with service and repair work.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience as a Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician, Restaurant Equipment Technician, Food Equipment Technician, Appliance Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar mechanical/electrical service position is preferred.

Experience servicing grocery store deli or meat-processing equipment is a plus.
