About the Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Sports, the Sports Information & Communications Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of sport compliance reporting for OUA and USPORTS including maintaining current content on Brock Badgers website, statistics, event video and broadcasting, social media reporting and post event compliance. The Sports Information & Communications Coordinator is essential in disseminating Brock’s varsity sport information to both internal and external stakeholders to meet the department’s strategical and tactical plans and ensure all communications represent the values of Brock Sports. 

The Sports Information & Communications Coordinator will: 

  • Lead sports information operations for home and away events, including statistics, rosters, photography, media materials, website content, championship reporting requirements, and responses to media inquiries in compliance with both OUA and USPORTS hosting requirements and regulations;   
  • Manage and oversee production of all Badger webcasts (such as OUA.TV) that represent Brock Sports in a safe and inclusive environment;
  • Oversee and monitor all social media platform communications to ensure adherence to the values of Brock Sports, sport compliance and Brock branding; 
  • Oversee all communications requirements are met for conference and national championships such as rosters, head shots, sports and media information; 
  • Ensure all media requests and sports information requests are met within media timelines in collaboration with Central Brock Communications Department;
  • Create, edit, and manage content across digital, print, web, and event communication channels, including game-day scripts, publications, and promotional materials in conjunction with Central Brock Communications Department;  
  • Lead awards and recognition processes while maintaining comprehensive historical records, archives, statistics, milestones, and award nominations for varsity athletics;
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor student staff and casual event personnel supporting game-day operations and communications;
  • Act as a member of the event management team and will lead game day events as required;
  • Attends on site game day events and/or travels to key sport events (i.e. championships, etc.); and
  • Support staff with technical requirements such as video sharing and statistical/event scoring software.

This role requires work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support games and athletic events.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in communications, media, or in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in a sport environment with communications responsibility (preferably in a post-secondary environment);
  • Strong computer competency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Synergy, and computer statistical software; 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to survey multiple and various technical requirements in order to avoid penalties; 
  • Strong understanding of online, and social media, with the ability to stay current on social media trends; 
  • Effective record keeping skills; 
  • Ability to edit various reports; 
  • Ability to identify and act upon emergency situations; 
  • Knowledge of the University environment, rules, regulations, processes, administration, USPORTS and OUA regulations and related practices; and
  • Knowledge of University sports and related events. 


Preferred or Asset Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Brock’s facilities, services, contracts, and policies around use of space; 
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate statistical and website software (PRESTO, LeagueStat, StatCrew, Sidearm); 
  • Knowledge of ERP, Facility Focus, Active, Workday and University Tickets software; and   
  • Previous management and supervision experience. 


Salary and Total Rewards: 

  • Job Grade (J), Salary Scale $57,267.00 - 91,627.00
  • Target Hiring Range: $ 57,267.00 – 67,000*
  • This is a permanent position that includes:  
  • Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan.
  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.
  • Professional Development: Eligibility for the Brock Tuition Waiver Program.

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
