What you'll be doing
As part of CIBC’s team, the Business Systems Analyst supports process and operations automation initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance business performance. As a Business Systems Analyst, you’ll work closely with business and technology partners to assess current-state processes, identify manual or repetitive activities, and recommend automation solutions that improve consistency and streamline operations. You’ll help define system scope and objectives, document and validate requirements, support implementation, deliver training, and provide end-user and operational support. You’ll also use sound judgment in your day-to-day work to resolve issues within scope, refine processes after launch, and identify opportunities to scale automation across the business. Through your work, you’ll help ensure process changes are well understood, project governance standards are followed, and automation initiatives deliver meaningful value.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
How you'll succeed
Process discovery and requirements gathering - Partner with business teams to understand current workflows, document business requirements, and identify opportunities to automate manual, repetitive, or control-sensitive processes. Lead discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and translate business needs into practical automation requirements.
Automation delivery - Support the design and implementation of automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and strengthen process standardization. Contribute to business rules, process maps, solution documentation, and requirements that support operational improvement.
Solution analysis and implementation support - Work with business and technology partners to validate proposed solutions, support testing and implementation activities, and help ensure process changes are adopted successfully. Define future-state workflows and support the transition from manual to automated operations.
Continuous improvement and operational support - Provide post-implementation support for automation initiatives, including issue analysis, root cause investigation, and recommendations for process optimization. Identify opportunities to refine or expand automation capabilities to deliver ongoing value.
Collaboration and partnership - Act as a trusted partner to operations, technology, and project teams. Share subject matter expertise, support cross-functional problem-solving, and help teams navigate organizational, operational, and process-related change.
