Sourcing Manager - Indirect Materials

Pay Range:

$100,800.00 - $165,600.00

Position Summary: 

This role is an opportunity to help build and shape Bio-Techne’s Strategic Sourcing function as part of a broader transformation toward a more strategic, consistent, and value-driven sourcing model. Someone in this position will have the opportunity to influence how sourcing works across the organization by bringing structure, market insight, and strong execution to complex sourcing opportunities.

You will build trusted relationships across the business and with suppliers, help stakeholders navigate complex decisions, and identify opportunities that create measurable value while supporting business needs. Key Responsibilities: 

Relationship management

• Liaise with the business to understand business objectives and determine how Procurement can best support those objectives.
• Identify opportunities to work as “one company” by considering potential synergies across different groups and locations.
• Analyze and present spend and KPIs to support optimal enterprise-wide and cross-functional decision-making.
• Cultivate strategic supplier relationships, driving joint initiatives that advance innovation and improve quality.

Category management

• Ensure all expenditures above established thresholds is managed strategically.
• Develop category strategies to drive cost savings and improve quality and service levels by proactively identifying opportunities such as product standardization and supplier consolidation.
• Build strong relationships with business groups and serve as a trusted advisor.
  • Provide category subject matter expertise.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the supply market and develop win-win strategies for both the company and suppliers.
• Manage spending under contract by overseeing the full lifecycle of negotiated contracts, from strategy and implementation through renewal or expiration.
• Support compliance with contractual requirements and related documentation

Sourcing and Negotiation

• Develop and manage sourcing projects across all seven steps of the strategic sourcing process, including sourcing strategy, supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
• Work effectively as part of cross-functional teams throughout the sourcing process.
• Identify the right go-to-market approach to achieve the best results, incorporating total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling into sourcing events and decisions.
• Facilitate change management with key stakeholders across the organization.

Support the transformation

• Drive the adoption of sourcing and procurement best practices and process standardization, including the strategic sourcing process.
• Collaborate with technology, business, and supplier partners to align functional business requirements.
• Identify and evaluate process improvement opportunities and challenges.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of strategic sourcing and/or procurement experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Extensive negotiation experience, including complex commercial negotiations.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with strategic sourcing processes, procurement organizations, spend analysis, contracting and all enabling technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Results-oriented with a strong focus on execution and measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally and globally to achieve business objectives, and the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels in a global decentralized organization.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to apply sound judgment, innovative thinking, and commercial insight to business opportunities.
• Strong analytical capability; comfortable using data to drive decisions and accountability.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable savings and value capture within a category or portfolio​

• Standard schedule hours with occasional variation depending on production needs.
