Senior Director, Investment Asset Data Management

The Head of Investment Asset Data Management is accountable for leading Prudential's investment asset data management transformation and establishing a sustainable operating model that delivers trusted, timely and controlled investment data across Investments, Finance, Risk, Actuarial and Regulatory Reporting.

The role will define and deliver the target investment data architecture, operating model, governance framework and platform strategy, while ultimately becoming the operational owner of the capability in business-as-usual.
The successful candidate will combine deep investment data expertise with strong transformation leadership, stakeholder management and operational ownership capabilities.

Key accountabilities:

 

1. Investment Asset Data Strategy & Transformation

• Define and execute the Group-wide investment asset data management strategy and roadmap
• Lead the transformation of investment data capabilities from fragmented local solutions to a standardised enterprise platform
• Establish the target operating model, governance framework and control environment for investment asset data
• Drive strategic initiatives that improve data quality, scalability, transparency and operational efficiency
• Act as the business lead for investment asset data transformation programmes and strategic technology investments
  

2. Investment Data Platform & Solution Delivery

• Lead the design and implementation of investment asset data capabilities covering Security master data, holdings and positions, investment transactions, pricing and market data, investment accounting data, performance and analytics data
• Partner with Technology teams and external vendors to deliver strategic capabilities and improvements
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned to enterprise architecture standard.
• Manage programme scope, budget, risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes
  

3. Data Governance, Quality & Controls

• Establish data ownership and stewardship models across investment data domains
• Define and implement investment data quality standards, controls and monitoring frameworks
• Drive continuous improvement in data quality, traceability and transparency.
  

4. Data Contract Management & Data Products

• Establish and lead the Investment Data Contract Management capability
• Define and govern data contracts across producers and consumers of investment data with accountability for data ownership, quality standards, change management and service expectations.
• Improve interoperability, automation and reuse of investment data assets across Investments, Finance, Risk and Actuarial functions.
  

5. Stakeholder Leadership

• Serve as the senior business owner for investment asset data management.
• Partner closely with Investments, Finance, Risk, Actuarial, Operations and Technology leadership teams
• Build alignment across Group and LBU stakeholders
• Influence strategic decisions relating to operating model, technology investments and data capabilities.
  

6. Operational Ownership

• Own the ongoing operation and evolution of the investment asset data management capability
• Establish global capability including service management, support and continuous improvement processes
• Drive adoption, service performance and operational excellence
• Manage strategic vendor and platform relationships
• Ensure investment data services continue to meet changing business and regulatory requirements
  

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

1. Essential

• 15+ years' experience in investment data management, investment operations, investment accounting, finance transformation, enterprise data management or related disciplines
• Experience within life insurance, asset management or other financial services organisations
• Proven track record leading large-scale transformation programmes and delivering measurable business outcomes
• Strong knowledge of security master data, investment transactions and holdings, market and reference data, investment accounting, Investment reporting and analytics, and enterprise data management
• Experience defining and implementing data quality management capabilities.
• Experience establishing and managing data contract frameworks and service ownership models
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across business and technology functions

 

2. Desirable

• Working knowledge of investment accounting and investment operations platforms
• Experience with investment and data platforms such as Aladdin, SimCorp, Bloomberg, Clearwater Analytics or equivalent solutions
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Azure and Databricks
• Understanding of modern data management approaches including data products, data mesh and data contract management frameworks
