The Raytheon San Diego site builds and sustains magnetics products for the Aegis and Patriot radar systems, including electrical transformers, power supplies, coils, and other magnetic assemblies. We are in the middle of an exciting transformation from a depot and repair operation into a full manufacturing facility, and we're looking for a Senior Lab & Operations Supervisor to help build the foundation that growth depends on.

 

In this role, you will own the day-to-day health of our labs and production areas: safety, compliance, property, equipment, facilities, and 5S. You'll partner closely with our Cell Leaders, managing programs and projects while they execute on the floor, and you'll develop into a Cell Leader yourself by taking on front-line supervisory tasks as you grow. This is an ideal role for someone who likes structure, takes pride in a well-run shop, and wants a clear path into production leadership at a site where their work will. visibly shape what we become.

 

What You Will Do

• Manage and sign daily, weekly, and monthly area checklists, including FOD, hazardous waste, and safety.

• Conduct safety walkthroughs and audits, maintain PPE compliance, and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

• Manage hazmat inventory and expirations and coordinate hazmat disposal.

• Oversee property and metrology management for company, government, and customer-owned assets to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

• Manage preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration schedules for area assets and support equipment (e.g., eyewash stations, pumps), coordinating with Cell Leaders to complete the work.

• Conduct formal monthly 5S audits and manage 5S improvement projects (e.g., rack and workstation move, lighting installations), partnering with Cell Leaders on implementation.

• Coordinate, track, and support facilities, lab compliance, and equipment projects, including submitting and following up on repair and installation requests.

• Provide equipment status reporting and support audit and assessment readiness.

• Manage consumables inventory and reorder as needed; manage scrap material bins.

• Manage lab and badge access, and escort facilities-related visitors as needed.

• Safeguard export-controlled and proprietary hardware, materials, and documentation in accordance with ITAR/EAR and site security requirements.

• Manage and onboard Paragon contingent workers

• As part of operations supervisor development, support front-line supervisory tasks such as shift coverage, production status updates, and team communication, with responsibilities increasing over time.

• Use SAP or similar ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) to track assets, inventory, and metrics.

• Regular standing and walking on the production floor, and occasional lifting of up to 25lbs and wears PPE.

• Hands-on experience with EHS programs, hazardous materials management, property and metrology compliance, and lean/5S practices.

• Exposure to a site-wide transformation from depot/repair to full-rate manufacturing on critical defense programs.

• Company-provided training may be included for hazardous waste/DOT, OSHA, SAP, or lean/5S

 

Qualifications You Must Have  

• Typically requires university degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.

• Experience working in a manufacturing, repair depot, or engineering lab environment.

• Experience with safety, compliance, or facilities-related processes (e.g., checklists, audits, inventory control).

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience leading or coordinating people or projects in a production, test, or electrical/mechanical repair environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA regulations, hazardous materials handling, and FOD/Foreign Object Elimination programs.
• Experience with government or customer property management and metrology/calibration practices.
• Experience with 5S, lean, or continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP software and Microsoft Excel.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
