CDL A Local Port Driver - Night Shift

Pay and Schedule Breakdown

• Base Pay: $18 per hour for all hours worked. When your activity pay adds up to more, you get the difference as a weekly bonus
• Activity Pay: $0.52 per mile, $55 per live load or unload, $41 per drop and hook, $40 per LTL stop, $25 per hazmat load
• Detention: $20 to $24 per hour
• Minimum Full Day Pay: $250 per day
• Holiday Pay: 6 paid holidays at $230 per day
• Tenure Pay: after your first year, an extra $3 per day, growing $3 each year up to $36 per day
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 PM start, 10 to 12 hour shifts

The Work

• Port and Rail Freight: pull 20, 40, 45 and 53 foot containers from the LA/Long Beach ports and rail yards to customers across Southern California
• Freight Mix: drop and hook and live unload, plus LTL and intermodal loads when port work is slow
• Mostly No Touch: occasional loads need a pallet jack
• Equipment: automatic International and Freightliner day cabs, shared trucks that stay at the yard

Requirements

• At least 21 years old with a valid Class A CDL
• 3 months verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 6 months with one carrier, 6 months in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years
• TWIC card required before scheduling
• Hazmat endorsement within 60 days of hire
• No more than 2 moving violations and no careless or reckless driving in the last 3 years
• No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years and no major preventable accidents in the last 3 years
• Must pass hair and urine drug testing, with no failed drug or alcohol test in the last 5 years
