Our client is a stable food manufacturing company looking for an experienced Chief Accountant on interim base to support its operations.

 

CHIEF ACCOUNTANT - Interim

The primary focus of the role is to ensure the smooth and accurate operation of the accounting function, coordinate monthly and annual closing, ensure compliance with Hungarian accounting and tax regulations, and deliver accurate financial reporting on time. The position works closely with Finance, Operations, and Group Finance.

THE JOB

• Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day accounting activities
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
• Prepare balance sheet, P&L, and other financial reports
• Ensure compliance with Hungarian accounting and tax regulations
• Coordinate tax returns and statutory reporting
• Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and accounting records
• Oversee the accounting treatment of inventory, raw materials, and production costs
• Coordinate external audits and cooperate with tax advisors and authorities
• Work closely with Group Finance and the Finance Director
• Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls

THE PERSON

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG
• Previous experience as Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, or in a similar position
• Strong knowledge of Hungarian accounting and tax regulations
• Solid experience in monthly/year-end closing and statutory reporting
• Experience with inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment is an advantage
• Strong Excel and ERP skills
• Fluent English
• Accurate, reliable, and hands-on approach
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
