Full-Time Nanny - San Francisco + International Travel

A family in Cow Hollow is looking for a warm, experienced, active and highly engaged full-time nanny. Their son is a happy, funny and high-energy 2-year-old who loves books, dinosaurs, music and exploring. He has a great sense of humour, asks ‘why’ constantly, and his current favourite food is octopus. They are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being active with young children and has the energy to keep up with him throughout the day.

Hours & Schedule: 40 guaranteed hours per week + additional hours/overtime as needed
This is a full-time role with 40 guaranteed hours per week, with flexibility across weekday daytime hours, weekday evenings and occasional weekends.
Because their son is starting preschool 2-3 days per week, they are looking for someone who can be flexible week to week as they establish his routine. Hours will therefore be a mix of daytime childcare, preschool pick-ups, evenings/babysitting and occasional weekend coverage. The schedule will be provided in advance where possible. When traveling, the schedule will likely change and may include 24/7 care.

The family travels regularly and is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys travelling and is comfortable becoming part of family life while away. They expect approximately four months of travel per year, including an extended period in Europe during the summer as well as other international and domestic trips.
Trips may be up to two months at a time. During travel, the schedule can include longer days, evenings, weekends and occasional overnight or extended coverage, with additional travel compensation.

A private room and bathroom will always be provided while travelling. On longer stays and extended trips, rather than shorter family vacations, their preference is to provide the nanny with their own separate accommodation, giving them their own space and privacy when off duty.

Their first international trip with the new nanny is expected to begin in mid/late November and last for up to one month, finishing before the December holidays. They will not require coverage over the holiday period.

About the Family
They are an entrepreneurial family who recently moved their home base from London to San Francisco after spending time between the two cities for many years. Mum is British and works in fashion, and Dad is Norwegian and works in technology. They have one child. They love travelling, food and experiencing new places together. Their son has travelled extensively from a young age, including to Brazil, Norway and the Arctic Circle, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Ibiza, Greece, San Francisco, Dubai and the Maldives. They are looking for someone who can become a trusted and important part of their family and stay with them long-term.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of recent professional nanny experience with excellent verifiable references
• A background in teaching or early-years education is a major plus
• Experience as a Family Assistant, PA or House Manager would also be a strong advantage

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English
• Norwegian or Spanish language skills would be a bonus, particularly someone happy to introduce the language naturally through conversation, songs, books and play

Qualifications

• Covid-vaccinated + willing to update the COVID booster and any other vaccinations (e.g. flu, MMR, etc.) if requested
• TB and Tdap vaccine
• CPR Certified
• Lives within 15-30 minutes of Cow Hollow
• Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record; comfortable driving in SF; reliable personal vehicle; family will reimburse for mileage
• Comfortable with regular babysitting and international travel
• Warm, caring and genuinely enjoys spending time with young children

Responsibilities

• Providing warm, attentive and developmentally appropriate care
• Keeping up with an active toddler and enjoying lots of physical play and time outdoors
• Preschool pick-ups
• Planning activities, outings, classes and playdates
• Supporting learning through books, conversation, songs and play
• Preparing healthy meals and snacks for our son
• Keeping his bedroom, play areas and belongings organised
• Managing his laundry and clothing
• Packing and organising for travel
• Helping maintain his routines while travelling
• Regular weekday evening babysitting
• Occasional weekend coverage
• Working collaboratively with both parents and adapting as his needs and schedule evolve
