Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the team at Carilion Family Medicine – Colonial Avenue. This is an excellent opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and providing high-quality, comprehensive primary care.

About the Opportunity

As an APP at Carilion Family Medicine – Colonial Avenue, you will work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other members of the care team to provide patient-centered care across the lifespan. The role offers the opportunity to practice with a high degree of autonomy while benefiting from the resources and support of Carilion Clinic's integrated health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to patients.

• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.

• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing.

• Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans.

• Educate patients and families about disease prevention, wellness, medications, and treatment plans.

• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.

• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and support quality and patient-safety initiatives.

• Help create an exceptional experience for patients and their families.

• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to collaborative, team-based, patient-centered care.

• Primary care or family medicine experience is preferred; qualified candidates with a strong interest in family medicine are encouraged to apply.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program or an accredited Physician Assistant program required.

Experience: 1 year of clinical experience preferred. Additional experience may be required based on specialty.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nurse Practitioners must also hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia. Must be eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required as appropriate to the position.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or Nursing, and applicable certifying bodies. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems required.

Compensation Range:

$107,993.60 - $172,785.60

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
