Description
Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer utilizes knowledge of engineering practices (mathematics, materials, manufacturing technology) to prepare equipment designs using models from rough or detailed sketches and notes. This position is responsible for preparing final models and assemblies used for analysis, applying best practices, strong knowledge of GD&T, and understanding of final geometry of assemblies; performing modifications of drawings as directed by the Engineering Manager or the Project Engineer. Experience with 3D modeling and detailed drawing preparation using Autodesk Inventor software is preferred.
Qualifications:
The qualified individual will possess strong innovative thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. Candidates with an Associate's degree (AA) in Mechanical Engineering from a two-year college or technical school and two years' experience with mechanical design of machine tools or other complex machinery will be given preferential consideration. A strong background in general manufacturing, working with blueprints, engineering drawings, machine and fabrication processes, weldments, sheet metal designs, and casting designs is highly preferred.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities and is required to work effectively with people in all levels of the organization. The qualified individual will be self-motivated, goal-driven, work well in both team and individual environments. Must be able to work safely, recognize and correct unsafe conditions, and select appropriate PPE based on job requirements.
This position requires flexibility with scheduling and the ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 20%. The normal schedule will be Monday-Friday.
