Description
Accounts Receivable & Accounting Specialist
Reports To: Assistant Controller / Controller
About the Role
Immediate growth related opening in the corporate accounting department of a successful distribution company.
We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional to take ownership of our accounts receivable function — invoicing, cash application, and account reconciliation — while lending support across the broader accounting team. This role is a great fit for someone who wants to grow their responsibilities over time and is genuinely willing to help wherever the team needs it, whether that's general ledger work, reporting, or special projects.
What You'll Do
- Own the day-to-day accounts receivable cycle: generate customer invoices, apply cash receipts, and process approved credit and debit memos
- Reconcile A/R accounts and proactively research discrepancies, partnering with other teams to resolve issues quickly
- Lend a hand on the accounts payable side as needed — reviewing invoices, creating vouchers, and researching outstanding payables
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations to support the general ledger
- Assist with treasury-related tasks, including applying cash receipts and processing payments
- Contribute to business licensing, registrations, and sales tax reporting as needed
- Spot opportunities to improve accounting processes and take initiative on problem-solving
- Stay in regular contact with other departments to gather information, resolve transaction issues, and keep management informed of any concerns
- Put together reports and records for leadership as requested
- Take on additional responsibilities as they come up — we're looking for someone eager to grow and pitch in wherever it's needed
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of accounting or related experience
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is a plus, but not required — we're happy to consider equivalent experience
- Inventory accounting experience is a plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and accounting software; quick to pick up new systems and platforms
- A strong communicator who builds rapport easily with people at all levels, internally and externally
- Sharp attention to detail with solid organizational and follow-up skills
- A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and manages time well to meet deadlines
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Competitive base salary
- Profit sharing plan
- 401(k) with non-elective employer match
- PTO / Vacation plan
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision
- Hybrid schedule — 2 days in office, 3 days remote
