Position Summary:
The Division of Financial Affairs at Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Accounting Assistant in Boca Raton, FL.
The divisions within Financial Affairs are dedicated to providing and maintaining a work and educational environment that encourages excellence and improved productivity through the utilization of the latest information, management technologies, and their applications within the human and fiscal resources of the University.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post accurate month-end journal entries within established deadlines.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Perform general ledger and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Review trial balance activity and research variances or discrepancies.
- Maintain and organize supporting documentation for journal entries and reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records in accordance with accounting policies.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules for management and audit purposes.
- Provide end-user support on accounting-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and system efficiencies.
- Provide support to senior accounting staff on daily operations and special projects as needed.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Conduct research and apply findings to support accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.
- Perform other accounting-related ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience required.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Excellent attention to detail and ability to prepare and analyze financial records.
Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, or account reconciliation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using financial or enterprise resource systems.
Accounting degree preferred (not required).
Salary:
