Engineering Manager
Location - San Francisco, CA - (Hybrid – 4 Days Per Week)
Compensation - $210,000 – $300,000 Base + Competitive Equity

As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building AI-powered patient experiences, voice AI applications, and healthcare workflows while remaining deeply technical through architecture reviews, technical leadership, incident response, and engineering execution.

What You'll Do
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team building AI-powered healthcare products
- Hire, mentor, coach, and develop software engineers while maintaining a high talent bar
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering Leadership to deliver high-impact customer-facing products
- Drive architecture reviews and technical design discussions across the engineering organization
- Remain hands-on by contributing to technical decision-making, debugging production issues, and guiding implementation
- Build scalable AI-powered applications supporting patient-facing voice agents and healthcare workflows
- Help define engineering best practices, development processes, and technical standards
- Partner directly with healthcare professionals to build products solving real-world operational challenges
- Lead agile software development while maintaining rapid product delivery
- Scale engineering processes as the organization grows from 40 to 75+ engineers
- Champion modern engineering practices, AI-assisted development, and engineering excellence
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership, execution, and continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate Background
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Approximately 2+ years of Engineering Management experience
- Experience leading engineering teams of 5+ engineers
- Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent
- Experience working at venture-backed growth-stage startups (Series A+ preferred)
- Strong history of hands-on technical leadership within the last 1–2 years
- Experience building customer-facing software products
- Experience leading engineering teams through rapid organizational growth
- Strong startup ownership mentality with demonstrated leadership execution
- Experience collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Executive Leadership
Technical Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals across system design, architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
- Experience designing and building production-grade applications
- Experience leading architecture discussions and technical decision-making
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering best practices
- Experience building AI-powered products or platforms
- Familiarity with modern AI coding tools and AI-assisted software development
- Experience debugging complex production systems
- Strong understanding of cloud-native software development and modern engineering infrastructure
- Comfortable contributing technically when needed while balancing management responsibilities
- Technical background across full-stack or backend product engineering preferred
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline preferred
