Description
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress.
Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.
How we deliver this, matters. We take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome — working together across our global network to turn insight into impact.
Location: London
Make the market better. It starts with you.
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We bring together leading risk specialists to advance global progress.
We’re looking for a Senior Associate to help us understand and manage financial risk across Lloyd’s. You’ll focus on the capital, investment and liquidity risks affecting both the Corporation and the wider Lloyd’s market.
This is an opportunity to influence important decisions, challenge established thinking and strengthen how financial risk is managed. You’ll work with specialists and senior stakeholders across Lloyd’s, turning complex analysis into clear insight and action.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide independent oversight and constructive challenge across our financial risk landscape. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and assessing capital, investment and liquidity risks.
- Challenging how financial risks are managed and recommending improvements.
- Providing risk insight and formal opinions on strategic finance initiatives.
- Supporting a risk-based approach to syndicate oversight.
- Monitoring emerging risks and leading focused thematic reviews.
- Supporting the validation of Lloyd’s Internal Model, including its Investment Risk Model and Economic Scenario Generator.
- Improving the processes, systems and data analytics used by the Risk Management team.
- Contributing to the ORSA, stress and scenario testing, regulatory submissions and risk reporting.
- Presenting clear analysis to senior management and the Risk Committee.
- Building trusted relationships across Treasury, Investment Management and Central Finance.
- Leading and supporting projects in response to changing business priorities.
You’ll also manage one direct report, helping them contribute, develop and deliver high-quality work.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have strong financial risk expertise and the confidence to ask thoughtful questions. You can work through complex information, form a balanced view and explain your conclusions clearly.
We’re looking for:
- Strong knowledge of financial risk, particularly capital, investment and liquidity risk.
- Experience applying risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- A good understanding of financial markets and the role of different asset classes in insurers’ portfolios.
- Experience providing oversight, challenge and advice to technical specialists.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn detailed information into practical recommendations.
- The confidence to influence senior stakeholders in formal and informal settings.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading initiatives or projects across different teams.
- The ability to prioritise effectively and adapt as risks and business needs evolve.
Knowledge of Solvency II or Solvency UK, insurance liabilities and the Lloyd’s market would be valuable. Experience in risk or capital modelling, including Economic Scenario Generators, would also be beneficial.
A relevant professional qualification, such as actuarial qualification or the CFA Charter, would be advantageous. But we’re equally interested in the expertise, judgement and perspective you can bring.
Why join us?
At Lloyd’s, you’ll help protect the marketplace while enabling it to grow and evolve. You’ll work with talented people across our global network, sharing insight and challenging assumptions to deliver better outcomes.
How we work matters. We take the risk, make things happen and own the outcome. You’ll have a voice here, along with the support and opportunity to use it.
We’re committed to building an inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we serve. We want everyone to be treated with dignity and respect, supported in their wellbeing and able to reach their full potential.
We welcome conversations about workplace adjustments throughout the recruitment process. If you meet many, but not every, requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
Being inclusive at Lloyd’s is integral to how we work — and how we deliver impact.
We aim to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we serve, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and supported to reach their full potential.
We take the risk by challenging traditional thinking and being proactive about inclusion. That means being open and positive about workplace adjustments, prioritising health and wellbeing, and investing in diversity and inclusion training so everyone feels able to contribute and succeed.
We make things happen by turning our commitment into action. Through employee networks, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and sustained investment in professional development, we create an environment where inclusion is experienced day‑to‑day — not just talked about.
We own the outcome by focusing on impact. By bringing together diverse perspectives and the best minds in the industry, we work collaboratively with underwriters and brokers to create innovative, responsive solutions that share risk and solve complex problems across global markets.
