Senior Business Risk Analyst, Operations & Client Support
Please Note:
- Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings
- You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement
- This is a secondment/contract opportunity until November 2027
- The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026 when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

How You’ll Make an Impact:
As a Senior Business Risk Analyst supporting FCC's client-facing operations and support teams, including Registered Plans, Account Transfers, Estates, New Accounts & Client Support, you will play a key role in strengthening the operational risk and control environment for critical client onboarding and servicing functions. Acting as a trusted risk partner to the business, you will help identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks while supporting the effective execution of FCC's risk management programs.
You will leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze risk events, identify root causes, develop meaningful mitigation strategies, and track remediation activities through to completion. By examining operational risk trends, control effectiveness, and process performance, you will provide actionable insights and recommendations that help enhance business processes and reduce risk exposure.
You will lead and facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), conduct operational risk reviews, support control testing activities, and perform change risk assessments to ensure risks and controls are appropriately identified and managed. In addition, you will work closely with business leaders to support risk governance, reporting, issue management, and continuous improvement initiatives across the client operations environment.
Success in this role requires strong operational risk expertise, analytical thinking, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence business partners while fostering a proactive risk-aware culture.
What You Will Do:
Operational Risk Management
- Partner with client facing operations & support teams to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks.
- Support the execution and ongoing operation of FCC's risk management programs, including risk assessments, issue management, risk event management, action plan tracking, and risk reporting.
- Conduct root cause analyses on operational risk events, identify contributing factors, and work with business partners to develop sustainable mitigation strategies.
- Monitor remediation activities and provide effective challenge to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Support the development and monitoring of key risk indicators (KRIs) and operational risk metrics.
Change and Project Risk Management
- Support business and technology change initiatives impacting client-facing operations.
- Conduct change risk assessments to identify operational risks associated with new products, regulatory changes, process enhancements, and system implementations.
- Ensure appropriate controls, governance, and risk mitigation measures are incorporated into change initiatives.
- Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Compliance, and business stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
Risk Event Management and Deep-Dive Reviews
- Lead investigations into operational risk events and near misses.
- Analyze trends and recurring issues to identify emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen controls.
- Conduct targeted risk reviews and deep-dive assessments of high-risk processes and critical business activities.
- Prepare clear and concise summaries of findings, root causes, and recommended corrective actions for management.
Risk Culture and Advisory Support
- Promote strong risk awareness and accountability across supported business units.
- Provide risk management guidance, education, and training to business stakeholders.
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders while maintaining effective independent challenge.
- Act as a trusted advisor on operational risk matters
What We Are Looking For:
Required
- 3+ years of experience in risk management required, ideally within the securities or banking industry.
- University degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of CIRO, securities regulations, and Canadian financial industry practices.
- Knowledge of capital markets products, securities lending, treasury operations, liquidity management, collateral management, and settlement processes.
- Experience working in a clearing broker, custodian, or wealth management environment, preferably supporting operations and associated risk controls.
- Experience conducting change risk assessments and supporting business transformation initiatives.
- Professional designations such as CFA or FRM are considered an asset.
- Experience with risk reporting tools, dashboards, or data analytics solutions.

This contract role offers a flexible, hourly compensation model that reflects your expertise and the value you bring. The hourly rate ranges from $46.00 to $65.00, based on experience and qualifications.
