The College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas welcomes highly qualified applicants to fill an immediate need for an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management starting in Fall 2027.  This is a tenure-track faculty position.  Application reviews will begin immediately.  We are looking for a collegial teacher-scholar with a passion for teaching and a multi-faceted track record of excellence both within and beyond the classroom.  Our greatest and immediate teaching need is for undergraduate courses in support of our brand-new BBA in Logistics & Supply Chain Management program.  Our hope is that this faculty member will help establish this as a strong program with great student outcomes and robust regional industry connections.  Courses at other levels and in other related areas may also be available on a limited basis depending on applicant qualifications and interest.

The College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB, and we are eager to have energetic and collegial new faculty members partner with us in pursuit of our major strategic initiatives, of which there are many on the near horizon (most notably, a DBA program anticipated to launch Fall 2027 pending SACSCOC final approval).  This is an exciting time of rapid change within the University and College that affords new faculty members many opportunities to make an immediate, significant, and lasting impact.

 

A&M-Central Texas is located on the southern edge of Killeen, TX, a city of approximately 150,000 located about halfway between Austin and Waco—about 60 miles either way.  Our faculty members enjoy a wide variety of living options by virtue of the range of communities in the area—from quiet and rural to bustling and cosmopolitan.  It is an easy drive to great art, food, shopping, and night life as well as to hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping for those who prefer the outdoors.  Central Texas is a rapidly growing region with a booming economy, but is also a great place for families, with many options for schooling, worship, civic engagement, and recreation.  It also has modest traffic and a reasonable cost of living.  The major metropolitan areas of Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio are all within a 3-hour radius of Killeen. 

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to provide quality, engaging instruction for typically three courses per term, primarily at the undergraduate level and in a variety of course delivery formats (face-to-face, online, or hybrid), with fully online being the most in-demand option at present.  Candidates who possess exceptional skill at making technical content accessible to a broad audience are especially desired.  The candidate will be expected to teach the following courses: LSCM 4321 Production and Operations Management, LSCM 4322 Business Process, Quality, and Lean Management, LSCM 4326 Global Procurement and Strategic Sourcing.  Other assigned courses may include LSCM 4323 Supply Chain Management and BUSI 3311 Business Statistics.  Additional summer teaching opportunities may be available depending on student demand and department needs. 

Some scholarly contributions are also required.  The candidate is expected have sufficient scholarly and/or professional activities to have “scholarly academic” status upon arrival per AACSB faculty classifications, and to have a healthy pipeline of works in progress toward publication, where health is measured more by viability and anticipated impact than by number and/or status.  Scholarship is but one category of currency and impact with which faculty may engage: others include maintaining a recognized professional certification, presenting at academic conferences, engaging in consulting or other industry-related activities, and completing other relevant professional training and development activities.  Professional development funds are available to support all of these endeavors, and faculty within the College frequently collaborate on research projects together. 

 

In regard to service, faculty are expected to support their program(s), department, college, and/or university with committee work, but first-year faculty are exempt from this.  In addition, faculty are expected to have some sort of service to their profession and/or to the community, but again, service contribution impact and quality are more important than the numbers of activities engaged in.  Faculty generally have a lot of discretion in determining how best they can add value through their various service activities. 

A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate. Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible to apply for this position, candidates should:

• Possess a terminal degree (doctorate) in supply chain management or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited university.
• Be eligible for the AACSB “scholarly academic” faculty classification (two publications or relevant terminal degree completed since 2022, with viable works in progress).
• Have a documented track record of successfully teaching supply chain or operations courses, including in fully online formats.
• Be qualified to teach LSCM 4321, LSCM 4322, and LSCM 4326.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position would also possess:

• At least three (3) years of full-time collegiate teaching experience.
• Industry experience.
• Experience developing industry connections in support of academic programs.
• Proficiency in creating original and engaging online course instructional materials.
• Qualifications to teach LSCM 4323 and BUSI 3311.
• Great administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills to support successful instruction to a largely non-traditional, first-generation, and military-affiliated student body.
• Familiarity/experience with DBA programs and/or supervision of doctoral students.

Salary: Commensurate

Hours: Faculty hours; M-F; hours may vary by assignment and course modality.
