The Headhunter LTD Albania, daughter company of The Headhunter Group, for its prestigious client operating in the field of International Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) & Services, is looking for a Senior Accountant.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant in Tirana to oversee expanding financial operations, maintain strict local tax compliance, and optimize operational cost structures for international business growth. As our client scales its workforce and operations in Albania, increasing procurement demands, complex visa/work permit procedures, rising payroll liabilities, and overhead expenses require structured financial management. This position requires an experienced accounting professional—preferably with a background in foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) or international companies—who understands local tax laws, national accounting standards, and modern corporate cost-control frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain daily accounting records, journal entries, supplier accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable in full compliance with local regulatory standards
• Compute monthly payroll, social and health insurance declarations, manage personal income tax filings, and process expatriate/visa compliance documentation
• Prepare and submit monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) returns, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and annual financial reports to the General Directorate of Taxes
• Reconcile daily bank statements, monitor local and foreign currency flows, execute bank transfers, and oversee petty cash controls
• Track administrative overhead, visa processing expenses, procurement expenditures, and vendor invoices to enforce operational budget limits
• Utilize local market knowledge of how foreign-owned businesses in Albania navigate tax regulations, internal cost allocations, and corporate entity structuring to advise management on financial efficiencies

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with strong preference for candidates with prior exposure to foreign multinationals or international corporate environments
• Approved Accountant certification or active progress toward national professional accounting credentials preferred
• Deep knowledge of local tax administration portals, e-invoicing systems, National Accounting Standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Professional proficiency in English and Albanian
• Proficiency with financial ERP systems (e.g., Finance 5, Alpha Web, QuickBooks, or SAP)
