Overview:
MPLX Logistics and Storage (L&S) Accounting records costs and revenue, prepares financial statements for operated joint ventures, engages with the business through financial reports, maintains accounting records for SEC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting, among other responsibilities.
MPLX L&S Accounting is looking for someone to support MPLX’s Refining Logistics business and account for MPLX’s sales type leases. The position collaborates with individuals inside and outside accounting to record revenue, review agreements, and prepare journal entries. The successful candidate should be a self-starter with strong analytical skills and someone who works well in a collaborative environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support MPLX L&S revenue accounting process through agreement invoicing, monthly reviews, and recording reclass entries
Create and record journal entries and other transactions, maintain general ledger, and reconcile accounts as necessary
Serve as MPLX’s subject matter expert for sales type leases
Review new agreements with operations and Technical Accounting
Provide BP&A with data and insight to support monthly variance explanations
Prepare key information for MPLX financial reporting disclosures
Ensures successful completion of internal and external audits
Utilize systems and tools such as Excel, Blackline, and SAP to perform job functions.
Identify efficiency opportunities and implement improvements to the revenue accounting and reporting processes
Assume other accounting responsibilities as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field request.
2+ years of relevant Accounting/Finance experience
