The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track position in Analytical or Physical Chemistry. This a full-time, nine-month, benefits eligible position starting in August 2027. There may be an opportunity to begin in January 2027.
This position is a faculty position with responsibilities for teaching a full faculty load in Chemistry. The successful candidate is expected to build an undergraduate research program and participate actively in service to the Department, College of EMS, and University. Teaching assignments are expected to come from a pool of general chemistries, and upper-level courses in analytical and possibly physical chemistry. Supporting the Chemistry Department initiatives and programs related to forensic science applications is expected.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities include lecture and lab courses in general chemistry, and upper-level courses in analytical chemistry. Curriculum development in analytical chemistry is expected. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program that involves undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include seeking external funding for undergraduate research, contributing to Departmental emphases related to forensic science applications and programming, assisting with instrument maintenance, academic advising, performing committee service and other duties as assigned.
Chemistry Department
The Chemistry Department currently consists of 9 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 3 instructional academic staff, and 2 lab technicians. The Department offers BS degrees in Chemistry that include program emphases certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). Available degree emphases include a standard track, Biochemistry, Criminalistics, and Criminalistics with a DNA focus. The Criminalistics Emphases are unique undergraduate programs in the State. The Department also offers a Chemistry Minor and a 2-year Pre-Pharmacy Program. The Department has approximately 80 majors and graduates 12 to 15 students per year. Faculty within the program work

The College of EMS serves 2,653 undergraduate students and 73 graduate students.
