What you’ll do
- Project/program management of multiple workstreams, coordinating delivery across data, cloud, analytics, business migrations, application dependencies, and legacy-platform decommissioning.
- Manage team(s) size of 6-15 members to help deliver technical capabilities/services, data acquisition to our cloud platforms, and transition workloads from legacy platforms to appropriate target-state solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and actively manage an integrated program plan covering scope, milestones, deliverables, resources, dependencies, critical path, and key business / technology commitments.
- Facilitate/lead team(s) scrum ceremonies, and proactively supports the Product Owner(s) to ensure team is focused on sprint/iteration goals and OKRs to help ensure timelines are being met for stakeholders.
- Manage project financials, including monthly forecasting, accruals and invoicing. Also, CBA’s and capitalization conversations with finance and accounting.
- Provide strong vendor and SOW management, tracking vendor commitments against agreed scope, deliverables, milestones, and acceptance criteria; validating evidence of delivery; coordinating changes to scope; and supporting invoice, etc.
- Lead/participate and collaborate in cross functional planning sessions to ensure milestones, risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies are clearly identified, owned, tracked, and escalated as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships across business and technology stakeholders to drive alignment where deliverables require contributions from multiple teams.
- Identifies dependencies with other teams and determines how to manage those dependencies without impacting the progress of the team (this includes raising any risks and working with the necessary teams to mitigate them, as well as removing team blockers).
- Prepare status reports, capture/track metrics and KPIs for management/stakeholder reporting. Executive-level status reporting capturing progress against outcomes, milestones, etc.
- Fosters close cooperation across all team members and encourages cross-training and support of each other (create a continuous learning environment to help team members to inspect and adapt).
- Strives for continuous improvement both for self and for the team. Recognizes opportunities for automation and other tools & processes so that the team can delivery more effectively.
- The Project Manager may be expected to work with the team to lead/facilitate troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to cloud environments / migration work. In addition, make recommendations on path forwards / decisions to management team depending on the issue.
- Self-motivated, agile, and innovative team member, who can manage in an environment of change, ambiguity, and complex cross-functional dependencies.
- 5+ years of project / program management experience delivering complex technology initiatives, preferably spanning multiple technical and business workstreams.
- 5+ years working in Agile environment and familiarity with SDLC processes, as well as knowledge about various Agile methodologies and experience in coaching scrum and Kanban teams.
- Demonstrated experience delivering data, data-platform, cloud, analytics, modernization or migration initiatives involving multiple technology teams and stakeholders.
- 2+ years of PM experience in delivering data products/projects in database technology/data warehousing/analytics
- Hands on experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, etc.
- Strong communication skills with ability tailor communications based on the audience and able to explain technical details/issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong executive reporting skills with the ability to synthesize detailed program information into a concise view of progress, value delivered, financial position, risk, and decisions required.
- Demonstrated experience managing project financials, including budgeting, monthly forecasting, accruals, actuals, invoice management, financial variances, and working collaboratively with Finance and Accounting.
- Skilled in building relationships and navigating through organizational layers.
- Certifications or familiarity with Azure products, GCP, Snowflake, Data Bricks is an asset.
- Previous experience managing projects leveraging cloud environments (Azure, GCP etc.) is preferred.
- Previous experience in leading Data Warehousing, ETL, or Business Intelligence projects is preferred.
- Broad knowledge across foundational technology domains including security, infrastructure, and networking is an asset.
- Previous experience working in the retail industry is an asset.
- Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSM) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) or equivalent formal education in Agile.
- SaFe certifications.
- PMP or equivalent project / program management certification is an asset.
- Agile project management, lean, and six sigma education or experience is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Certification in one or more of the following technology subject areas is an asset: Snowflake, Azure/Cloud, Database, Data, Business Intelligence, Data Science/ML/AI.
