Description
The Senior Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day Human Resources function, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, benefits, FMLA and ADA administration, compliance, performance management, HRIS, payroll and timekeeping coordination, policies, and organizational development.
This position requires a high degree of independence, sound judgment, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, managers, and organizational leadership.
- Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, performance concerns, corrective action, conflict resolution, and employment decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
- Recognize situations requiring escalation and appropriate partnership with leadership.
- Coordinate and manage a consistent, professional new-hire onboarding process, including required paperwork, HRIS setup, benefits enrollment, orientation, and communication with hiring managers.
- Manage the employee offboarding and separation process, including resignations, terminations, exit documentation, final-pay coordination, benefits termination, system access notifications, personnel records, and exit interviews when appropriate.
- Manage the full FMLA administration process from initial employee inquiry through leave closure and return to work.
- Evaluate and track FMLA eligibility and ensure required notices, certifications, recertifications, designations, and other documentation are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain confidential records related to FMLA, ADA accommodations, medical information, and other protected leave matters.
- Partner with the CAO and leadership regarding complex leave, accommodation, and employment matters.
- Coordinate payroll processes closely with the organization's Accountant to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for payroll-related employee information and changes.
- Coordinate, maintain, and administer annual employee compliance training requirements, including assigning required modules, monitoring completion, tracking compliance, and following up with employees and managers to ensure all training is completed within established deadlines.
- Provide payroll-related information, including new hires, terminations, status changes, compensation changes, deductions, leave information, and other employee changes.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and processes to support accurate payroll processing.
- Administer employee benefit programs and serve as a primary resource for employee benefit questions and issues.
- Manage relationships with benefits vendors and assist with resolving employee benefit issues.
- Support annual open enrollment and employee communications.
- Develop, review, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials.
- Support employment verification, audits, and other compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee information and records within ADP Workforce Now.
- Utilize HRIS capabilities to improve workflow, reporting, employee data management, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance tracking.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, communication, and efficiency.
- Evaluate HR workload and resource needs and assist with developing the HR department as the organization grows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Previous experience independently managing a broad range of HR functions required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and work effectively with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous healthcare, medical practice, physician practice, or hospital experience strongly preferred.
- ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- Experience supporting a multi-location organization.
- Experience working as a department of one or leading a small HR team.
- Experience with payroll processing and/or close coordination with accounting/payroll functions.
