Position Summary...
The Senior Director, Transportation Business Development – Commercial Operations is responsible for driving profitable growth, strategic partnerships, and commercial expansion across Walmart Domestic Transportation Services. This leader will develop and execute business development strategies that accelerate revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, expand transportation solutions, and position Walmart Transportation as a best-in-class logistics provider.The role serves as a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team and partners closely with Revenue Growth, Strategic Accounts, Operations, Product, Finance, Fleet, and Merchant organizations to identify market opportunities, shape commercial strategy, and deliver innovative transportation solutions that create value for customers and suppliers.

This leader will play a critical role in advancing monetization initiatives and expanding Walmart's transportation capabilities while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and customer experience.
What you'll do...
Business Development Strategy & Revenue Growth- Develop and execute the long-term business development strategy for Domestic Transportation Services.
- Identify new growth opportunities across transportation, logistics, brokerage, backhaul, dedicated fleets, and emerging transportation solutions.
- Create go-to-market strategies that drive customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
- Build business cases, financial models, and market assessments to evaluate expansion opportunities.
- Partner with executive leadership to align growth initiatives with enterprise priorities.
- Lead commercial planning and execution processes to ensure delivery of growth goals and business objectives.
- Establish performance metrics, operating rhythms, and reporting mechanisms that improve commercial effectiveness.
- Drive pricing, contract strategy, customer profitability analysis, and commercial optimization efforts.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while enhancing customer value propositions.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Lead negotiations and partnership discussions that support growth objectives.
- Collaborate with Strategic Accounts teams to expand customer penetration and uncover new revenue opportunities.
- Represent Walmart Transportation Services externally as a trusted logistics and transportation partner.
- Partner closely with Operations, Product, Technology, Finance, and Analytics teams to develop scalable transportation solutions.
- Influence stakeholders across the organization to align priorities and accelerate execution.
- Ensure seamless execution from opportunity identification through implementation and operational stabilization.
- Lead complex strategic initiatives involving multiple business units and external partners.
- Monitor transportation, logistics, and supply chain industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
- Utilize market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to refine business strategies.
- Drive innovation through partnerships, technology adoption, and new service offerings.
- Evaluate acquisition, partnership, and investment opportunities that support strategic growth.
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing business development and commercial operations team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Develop future leaders through coaching, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives.
- Promote collaboration across transportation and broader supply chain organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, business development, commercial strategy, or related fields.
- Experience leading large-scale business development, revenue growth, or commercial operations initiatives.
- Experience managing executive-level customer and partner relationships.
- Demonstrated success influencing across complex organizations and delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Master's degree (MBA preferred).
- Experience in transportation brokerage, logistics marketplaces, supply chain technology, or enterprise transportation operations.
- Deep understanding of transportation economics, pricing strategies, network optimization, and commercial contracting.
- Experience building and scaling new business models, transportation services, or growth initiatives.
- Strong financial acumen with experience developing strategic investment and monetization strategies.
- Proven ability to lead transformational change in high-growth environments.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
