Location: Fareham, Hampshire

Salary: From £31,899.92 per annum
Hourly Rate: £16.58 – £20.73 per hour
Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Service: Children’s Home
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year within Children’s Residential Care
Qualifications Required: NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent)
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence required

The Home:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker to join their children’s residential team in Fareham. This is an opportunity for a confident and capable senior practitioner to support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care, safeguarding young people, and leading shifts effectively.

This role would suit someone who enjoys mentoring junior staff, taking ownership during shifts, and creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment where children and young people can thrive.

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a Senior Support Worker who has previous experience within an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home and is confident managing challenging behaviours, safeguarding responsibilities, care planning, and leading a team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and delegating the staff team to ensure shifts are effectively planned and managed
• Supporting and supervising junior team members
• Assisting the Registered Manager with delegated management responsibilities
• Participating in on-call duties as required
• Supporting the home to meet all safeguarding and regulatory requirements
• Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, policies and best practice
• Maintaining a safe, caring and structured environment
• Challenging poor practice and escalating concerns appropriately
• Recognising and celebrating young people’s progress and achievements
• Managing challenging behaviours effectively
• Attending professional meetings where required
• Completing accurate reporting, documentation and record keeping
• Supporting individualised care planning
• Encouraging young people with daily goals, routines and activities
• Promoting education, independence and life skills
• Undertaking Key Worker responsibilities

Important Screening Criteria:
• NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent) is essential
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential
• Minimum 1 year Children’s Residential Care experience required

Individuals with only CQC experience and / or who have not worked in an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home will not be considered.
