What you'll do...
Role summary:The Technician, Facility Services, Food Equipment, is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on food equipment, facilities, and fixtures to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This role requires diagnosing issues, utilizing multiple craft skills, and managing maintenance schedules and work orders. The technician supports emergency responses, coordinates with contractors, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. By maintaining equipment and facilities to high standards, this position contributes to a safe, functional environment that supports business continuity and operational excellence.
About the team:
The team comprises 14 skilled technicians focused on maintaining and repairing refrigeration and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation and regulatory compliance. They collaborate to deliver preventive maintenance, timely troubleshooting, and effective problem-solving. Team members apply expertise in HVAC controls, refrigerant management, and equipment repair while adhering to safety and environmental standards. This group fosters a professional environment centered on continuous improvement, clear communication, and reliable service delivery to support facility operations and meet business needs efficiently.
What you'll do:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on food equipment, facilities, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
- Inspect, clean, and test equipment to diagnose issues and determine replacement needs to minimize future repairs.
- Utilize blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs to dismantle and repair machinery using hand and power tools.
- Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and company vehicles in accordance with safety procedures and policies.

What you'll bring:
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on food equipment and facility systems.
- Proficiency in multiple craft skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and material handling equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery, and powered equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
- Experience managing work orders, maintenance schedules, and coordinating with contractors.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to support operational priorities and continuous improvement.

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Vocational or technical certification and 2 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
