The Opportunity

Based in our Sydney office, we are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our Building Services team.

This is a key technical position within our national Fire Protection team and an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to take ownership of complex and high-profile infrastructure, buildings and defence projects. You will provide specialist fire protection engineering expertise across all project phases, from concept development through to detailed design and delivery.

Working closely with project managers, discipline leads and clients, you will lead the design and delivery of fire protection systems, provide technical guidance to developing engineers and designers, and contribute to the continued growth of KBR's Fire Protection capability across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex fire protection systems across major projects.
• Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for fire services designs, calculations and documentation.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables produced by other team members.
• Act as a key client interface and trusted technical advisor.
• Support bid preparation, business development and project planning activities.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the Fire Protection team.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in fire protection engineering practices.
• Ensure all project outcomes meet relevant safety, regulatory and commercial requirements.

Due to the focus on defence projects, the successful candidate must be an Australian citizen.

 

Who are you?

As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you are a technically strong and commercially aware professional with extensive experience delivering complex fire protection solutions across buildings, infrastructure and/or defence environments.

You are comfortable leading projects, guiding junior team members and acting as a trusted advisor to clients. Your ability to balance technical excellence with practical project outcomes allows you to develop innovative and compliant fire protection solutions for a diverse range of projects.

 

You will also have the following skills and experience:

• NSW Wet and Dry Fire Accreditation (FPAS, FSD Accreditation, C14/C8 Registered Certifier or equivalent).
• Extensive experience designing, reviewing and delivering wet and dry fire services systems.
• Proven capability in preparing and reviewing fire protection specifications, reports, calculations and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and fire protection industry requirements.
• Ability to lead technical delivery across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience managing client relationships and engaging directly with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineers and designers.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary design coordination and engineering delivery processes.
• Working knowledge of Revit MEP is desirable.
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline) & Chartered Professional Engineer status (or actively working towards chartership)
