Junior Accountant - Trophy Signature Homes

Overview

The Junior Accountant must believe in, practice and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.

 

The Junior Accountant is responsible for preparing timely and accurate accounting records, including various journal entries and AP entries. This position is also involved in the month end close process and the assistance of monthly financial statement reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries of both a recurring and non-recurring nature
• Record Closing entries
• Record Remote Check Deposit entries
• Record Customer Wire Deposit entries
• Maintain trackers and ensure proper payments for HOA and property taxes
• Maintain the bank reconciliation daily for all Trophy divisions
• Assist in the vendor setups process
• Codes and process corporate credit cards
• Research, track and resolve Accounting related problems (outstanding checks, statement reconciliation, duplicate invoices)
• Correspond with vendors to solve invoice or payment related problems
• Serve as an assistant in the monthly close process
• Code invoices and ensure invoices are properly approved
• Assist Accounting Leadership with projects as needed
• Assist with audit

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability:  This position involves the level of duties as described above, or similar, but is not a position of supervisory or management level.

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma
• Accounting degree preferred

 

Experience:

• 1-2 years of accounting/administrative experience
• Computer skills
• Microsoft Excel

• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good organizational skills
