Senior AML Compliance Officer
The Senior AML Compliance Officer’s duties are the following:
Assist the Head of FCC/MLRO and the Deputy MLRO in overseeing all aspects of the Bank’s AML/CFT activities.
Perform reviews and testing of all AML/CFT processes carried out by the Bank’s first line of defence and all other Bank functions, in line with the Anti-Financial Crime Plan, including performing Quality Assurance exercises on the AML Function.
Assist in the implementation of measures to be taken to ensure compliance with applicable AML laws, rules, regulations and standards – which includes periodically updating the Bank’s AML Framework documents, i.e., the Business Risk Assessment, Customer Risk Assessment methodology, the Bank’s AML Policies and Procedures, Jurisdiction Risk Assessments, amongst other procedures, in line with the Anti-Financial Crime Plan.
Assisting in the research, preparation, and provision of training to employees on the AML/CFT-related topics, the relevant AML/CFT Framework documents and AML/CFT software in use by the Bank.
Providing quality control and decisioning with respect to the on-going monitoring of transactions and payments, including alerts generated by the Bank’s transactions monitoring systems.
Maintaining proper record keeping of assessments carried out and supporting documentation obtained in relation to transactions and customer profiles.
Handling escalations, alerts and queries raised at all phases of the Customer life-cycle, from onboarding until closure/termination of the business relationship. Presenting the Head of AML/MLRO, the Deputy MLRO and the Head of Legal & Compliance with all relevant reports.
Assisting with the processing of requests for information and other orders received from the competent authorities, whether in Malta or abroad, including the Police, judicial authorities and others, where required.
Where necessary and in line with instructions received from the Head of AML/ MLRO, the Deputy MLRO the Head of Legal & Compliance, liaise with regulatory and supervisory authorities.
Liaising with credit / financial institutions and other third-party companies with which the Bank has established relationships, including the provision of support on AML/CFT-related matters and similarly provide the necessary support when establishing new relationships, including correspondent banking relationships.
Initiating investigations, completion of internal and external STRs and supporting all necessary follow-up action.
Support with the identification of practical and feasible solutions for the Bank’s Business requirements. Other related ad hoc duties that may be assigned by the Bank from time to time.
The candidate must be in possession of the following:
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in Financial Crime and AML.
Understand the legal, reputational, and commercial dimensions of AFC risk.
Have a strong command of the English language, both verbal and written.
Have excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
Have excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Be a team player.
Understand and translate complex AFC issues into manageable solutions that can clearly allow for informed decisions to be made.
Thrive in a high-performance environment.
Be skilled at identifying issues and solving them creatively and proactively.
Candidates with experience and/or qualifications in Financial Services, crypto and specifically payment services, will be favourably considered.
The starting salary for this position is €42,000 gross per year.
