Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us
We have an opportunity for an experienced Product Manager – Home Lending Value Chain to join our team.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We sat down with our Senior Product Manager for Home Lending Value Chain, and they let us know the below about the role:
This is a permanent, full time opportunity which can be based in Wellington or Auckland. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.
What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Deliver and deisgn the product vision for BNZ’s home lending origination platform, translating product and bank strategy into clear priorities, outcomes and requirements that bring the future home lending experience to life.
- Work closely with stakeholders and frontline teams to turn customer and banker problems into clear, deliverable product outcomes.
- Prioritise the backlog of enhancements and process improvements that simplify the home lending experience for bankers and improve adoption of BNZ’s lending origination platform.
- Support delivery governance, release planning, stakeholder engagement and business readiness for upcoming home lending technology releases.
- Monitor live platform performance, customer and banker feedback, operational issues and regulatory obligations to ensure the platform remains safe, compliant and easy to use.
What projects will you be working on now and into the next year?
You’ll be part of the product team leading the future of home lending at BNZ. Our team is at the front of the decision-making that shapes BNZ’s home lending origination platform (C360) — the core system bankers use to manage home lending applications. This is about more than delivering features; it is about changing the way we do home lending, how we support bankers, and how we serve customers at one of the biggest moments in their lives. Current and upcoming work includes digital top-ups, refinance journeys, broker and banker origination improvements, document generation, drawdowns, settlements and adoption uplift. You’ll help set the direction, make the right product calls and bring to life simpler, faster and better lending experiences for customers and bankers.
What is the Team culture and environment like?
You’ll be joining a small, collaborative and highly engaged Home Lending Value Chain Product team. We work closely with delivery, technology, business, frontline and operations teams across BNZ. The environment is fast-paced, supportive and outcome-focused. We care deeply about making home lending simpler for customers and easier for bankers. We enjoy solving complex problems together, challenging each other constructively, and celebrating progress along the way. You’ll be encouraged to bring ideas, ask questions, take ownership and work with pace while staying grounded in good product discipline and strong governance.
What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?
The most exciting part is the opportunity to help change how home lending works at BNZ. You’ll be working on projects that make it easier for customers to apply for lending and easier for bankers to support them. Home lending is one of the biggest financial decisions many people make, so the work has real meaning and visible impact. You’ll help shape simpler, faster and more connected lending experiences, and see your decisions make a difference for customers, bankers and BNZ.
What attributes will this person display to be successful in this role?
- Product management, delivery, business analysis, technology delivery or financial services experience.
- Strong understanding of customers, bankers and operational teams, with the ability to translate real-world pain points into clear product outcomes.
- Experience working in complex change or transformation environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence across product, delivery, technology, risk, legal, operations and frontline teams.
- Good judgement and the ability to balance customer experience, colleague experience, risk, compliance and delivery constraints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex topics simple and easy to understand.
- Comfortable working with data, insights, customer feedback and operational information to support prioritisation and decision-making.
- High ownership, curiosity and accountability, with a bias toward solving problems and following through.
- Experience in banking, lending, home lending, customer origination platforms or Salesforce-based environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A collaborative, positive and practical approach, with the ability to build trust and work well in a fast-moving team.
