Description
Come make your difference in communities across Canada, where authenticity, trust and making connections is valued – as we shape the future of Canadian retail, together. Our unique position as one of the country's largest employers, coupled with our commitment to positively impact the lives of all Canadians, provides our colleagues a range of opportunities and experiences to help Canadians Live Life Well®.
At Loblaw Companies Limited, we succeed through collaboration and commitment and set a high bar for ourselves and those around us. Whether you are just starting your career, re-entering the workforce, or looking for a new job, this is where you belong.
Why This Role Is Important
Social moves fast and our creative capabilities need to move with it.
We are looking for a Senior Social Content Designer to help shape and create the next generation of social-first content across some of Canada’s most recognized brands.
This is a highly hands-on creative role for someone who understands that great social content isn’t simply traditional creative resized for a feed. You understand the language of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and emerging platforms and know how to turn an idea, trend, piece of footage or cultural moment into content people actually want to watch, share and engage with.
Sitting within our LA Social team, you will bring dedicated video editing, design and motion capabilities to the social team, helping us increase the quality, speed and volume of social-first creative we produce.
You’ll work closely with Social Strategy, Creative, Community Management, Creator Partnerships and Production to take ideas from concept through execution and use performance insights to continually make the work better.
What You’ll Do
- Create social-first content from concept to final execution, with a focus on short-form video, design and motion.
- Edit high-volume short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and emerging social platforms.
- Design platform-native social assets including graphics, carousels, animations, motion graphics, typography and other visual content.
- Transform raw footage, UGC, creator content and locally captured content into compelling social stories.
- Create rapid-turn and reactive content that allows our brands to participate in trends, conversations and cultural moments.
- Partner with Social Strategists and Creatives to translate ideas into executions built specifically for social.
- Develop repeatable social formats, editorial series and visual systems that allow successful ideas to scale.
- Adapt existing campaign creative for social while identifying opportunities to make the work more native to each platform.
- Support lightweight social shoots and content capture when required.
- Bring strong knowledge of platform behaviours, editing styles, trends, memes, sounds and visual conventions into the creative process.
- Use social performance data, audience insights and Learning Loops to understand what is working and evolve the creative accordingly.
- Manage multiple projects and rapid-turn requests while maintaining a high bar for craft and brand consistency.
- Experiment with new creative technologies and AI-enabled tools that can increase the speed, scale and quality of social content production.
What You Bring
- 4–6+ years of experience in social content, video editing, design, motion design or a related creative discipline.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional social-first video and design work.
- Advanced proficiency in tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or equivalent creative platforms.
- Experience with fast-turn social editing tools such as CapCut and emerging AI-enabled creative tools is an asset.
- Deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and social culture — not just how the platforms work, but what makes content feel native to them.
- Strong instincts around pacing, storytelling, typography, sound, motion and visual composition.
- The ability to move comfortably between polished brand content and intentionally lo-fi, culturally relevant social content.
- Experience working with UGC, creator or influencer content is an asset.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities, trends and opportunities can change quickly.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across Strategy, Creative, Production and Social teams.
- Curiosity and a willingness to experiment, learn and evolve your craft.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You’ll help us build a more modern social content engine, one that can create at the speed of culture without sacrificing craft. Your work will help our brands show up more authentically in social, increase our ability to produce video at scale and reduce the handoffs that can slow social creative down.
Most importantly, you’ll help create content that earns attention, builds relevance and gives people a reason to engage with our brands.
You’ll Thrive Here If...
You are as comfortable editing a beautifully crafted piece of brand storytelling as you are turning around a culturally relevant TikTok before the moment passes.
You think in social, understand why some content earns attention while other content gets scrolled past, and are constantly saving references, spotting emerging formats and thinking about how brands can participate without trying too hard. You care deeply about craft, but you also know that in social, speed, relevance and experimentation matter just as much as perfection.
