Position Summary...
Develop and manage store-specific building design based on company standards and in collaboration with cross-functional partners. Manage architectural and support consultants to develop construction drawings based on approved real estate. Plan within the allocated budget for each project.
What you'll do...
This role manages a team of third-party and internal members to deliver projects, including store-specific design and associated timelines from pre-approval through completion. Responsibilities may include hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, establishing performance expectations, and conducting performance appraisals. The role ensures architectural consultants adhere to performance standards.
The role reviews and approves project-specific design opportunities through information gathering and meetings with key stakeholders and coordinates design decisions with consultants and the construction team. Throughout the project lifecycle, this role reviews potential change orders, coordinates with key stakeholders, obtains approvals, and reviews the impact of changes on cost and schedule. This role also ensures store designs comply with relevant code requirements and evaluates the effectiveness of current designs, programs, and initiatives.
The role manages complex projects by performing due diligence to determine project scope, attending project scope trips with stakeholders, and creating post-scope reports. This role engages third-party consultants to produce building shell drawings that accurately reflect the scope and facilitates the project budget process. Collaboration with consultants continues in post-approval scopes and requirements.
Overseeing the engagement and management of external consultants for each project, this role ensures design fees reflect project type and oversees the design budget, including reviewing and approving all design changes and associated fees. The role ensures all contractual documents are issued promptly and reviews and approves all consultant invoices to ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications
Architecture College or University Degree
7-10 years of relevant experience
5+ years of leadership experience
Background in grocery facility design is preferred but not a must.
Multi-unit managerial experience is an asset
