Lead Business Proces Owner (BPO) Commercial (m/f/d)

The Lead BPO Commercial ensures that the commercial process landscape is designed, built and adopted as one integrated customer journey, from first lead to cash received and service issue resolved.

The role is the business counterpart to the programme's solution and delivery leads. It turns the commercial strategy into a harmonised, standard-based S/4HANA process model and makes sure the business is ready to run it on go-live.

Core mandate:
• Steer and control the L2O, O2C and I2R streams on scope, quality, timeline and business readiness.
• Own end-to-end process integrity across the three streams and their hand-offs to Finance and Operations
• Drive a fit-to-standard, clean-core approach and challenge deviations from SAP standard.
• Represent Commercial in programme governance and escalate where business decisions are needed

Your tasks

Steering and control of the commercial streams

• Lead the BPOs of L2O, O2C and I2R as a team; set priorities, align plans and resolve conflicts between streams in alignment with the Program Management

• Track progress, quality and risks of each stream against the integrated programme plan; report status to programme management.

• Manage commercial scope: assess change requests for business value, cost and impact on timeline and other streams.

• Escalate issues, resource gaps and decision needs early and with a clear recommendation.

End-to-end process design

• Define and own the commercial process architecture and the target operating model for Commercials

• Ensure SAP best practices are the default and every gap is justified by a business case.

• Own the end-to-end hand-offs: L2O → O2C, O2C → I2R, I2R → O2C

• Ensure integration with adjacent value streams: Record to Report, Plan to Deliver and Procure to Pay

• Sign off process designs, business requirements and the commercial share of RICEFW objects

• Drive global template harmonisation and decide on local variants together with country and business unit leads.

Build, test and data

• Ensure the solution is built to the signed-off design; resolve open design questions quickly.

• Own the business side of commercial master data: customers, materials sales views, pricing conditions, contracts, installed base; set data ownership and quality rules.

• Plan and lead business testing for the commercial streams (end-to-end integration test, UAT) and sign off test results.

• Define commercial KPIs and reporting requirements so performance can be measured from day one.

Deployment and adoption

• Own business readiness for Commercial: roles and authorisations, training, key-user network, procedures and work instructions.

• Work with change management on impact analysis, communication and stakeholder engagement

• Confirm cutover readiness and give the business go/no-go for Commercial.

• Steer hypercare, prioritise defects and stabilise the commercial processes; hand over to the line organisation's permanent process owners.

People and stakeholder leadership

• Coach and develop the stream BPOs; ensure they have the mandate, capacity and key users they need.

• Build trust with senior commercial and service leadership and secure their decisions and involvement.

Your profile

• Profund experience in commercial functions in an international company, ideally in industrial business.

• At least one full-cycle S/4HANA (or major SAP ERP) implementation in a business process owner, lead or design role; greenfield experience preferred.

• Proven leadership of process owners or functional leads across several value streams, without necessarily having line authority.

• Experience with global template rollouts and harmonisation across countries or business units.

Knowledge

• Strong end-to-end understanding of L2O, O2C and I2R, including pricing, contracts, credit management, revenue recognition, returns and service management.

• Solid knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Sales, Billing, Credit and Receivables Management and Service, plus integration with Salesforce, CPQ and field service solutions.

• Understanding of master data governance, test management and cutover planning.
