Position Overview:

The George T. Sanders team is seeking a delivery driver for our Basalt location! 

 In this role, you’ll safely operate company delivery vehicles to transport products to our customers, ensuring timely deliveries and exceptional customer service.

When you are not making deliveries, you’ll support the warehouse and shop as directed by the Branch Manager. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license
• Notify the Branch Manager immediately of any license suspension, accident, or injury.
• Safely operate company vehicles and follow all traffic laws and company safety policies.
• Complete pre-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Keep required vehicle documents and emergency equipment up to date and readily available.
• Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle.
• Deliver products to customers accurately, safely, and on time.
• Assist customers with unloading and placing materials at the job site, as needed.
• Obtain customer signatures on delivery paperwork unless otherwise authorized.
• Pull, verify, and securely load customer orders for delivery.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and document returned materials.
• Communicate with the Branch Manager regarding delivery issues, customer concerns, or unexpected situations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform related duties in warehouse and shop as directed by the Branch Manager
• General housekeeping 

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet all applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements, including:

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Successfully pass and maintain a current DOT medical certification, including the required physical examination (required every 2 years).
• Meet DOT physical qualification standards, including: 
• At least 20/40 vision (with or without corrective lenses) and a minimum 70-degree field of vision in each eye.
• The ability to distinguish traffic signal colors.
• The ability to hear a forced whisper at a distance of at least five (5) feet in one ear, with or without a hearing aid.
• Functional use of both arms and legs to safely operate a vehicle and perform the essential functions of the position.
• Successfully pass all required pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Not using controlled substances except as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider and permitted under DOT regulations.
• Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to safely perform job duties, complete required documentation, and communicate with customers and law enforcement.
• Maintain a driving record that meets company and DOT requirements.
• Successfully complete any required DOT or company training and examinations.
• Meet all additional company qualifications necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position.

George T. Sanders reserves the right to establish additional qualifications or standards as permitted by law to ensure the safe operation of company vehicles and the safety of our employees and customers.

Work Environment:

• Truck drivers must cope with various working conditions, including variable weather and traffic conditions, boredom, and fatigue.
• The various working conditions include but is not limited to job sites, residential construction sites, commercial construction sites, and warehouse work.
• Working conditions are typical for a warehouse environment.
• Work involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 50 pounds.
• Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, work boots, hardhats, and gloves.
• Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
• Need to be able to withstand hot and cold environments.
• The time spent driving vs. doing warehouse work is about 70/30.

Position details:

• Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt.
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, at the Basalt location.
• Hours: 8 hours per day, starting at 7am, and working additional hours as needed.
• No nights
