Senior Accountant (Practice)
York | Full-Time | Office Based
£38,000 – £45,000 DOE
A well-established independent accountancy practice in York is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join their small team.
The Role
You will play a senior hands-on role within the practice, supporting a varied client base across general practice accounting work while also reviewing and overseeing junior team members’ work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts
- Supporting and reviewing junior staff work
- General practice accounting duties
- Tax compliance work
- VAT and bookkeeping support
- CIS-related work
- Working with a range of cloud and desktop accounting systems
This role does not involve dedicated portfolio management, but it does require strong technical capability and the confidence to operate at senior level within a busy practice environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience working within an accountancy practice
- Strong accounts preparation experience
- Experience reviewing and quality-checking junior staff work
- Good technical accounting knowledge
- CIS experience (highly desirable)
- A reliable, hands-on and team-focused approach
Candidates can be ACA / ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or QBE - experience and capability are valued more highly than qualifications.
