Description
Are you organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional customer service? We are seeking a Permit Technician to join our Public Works team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the permitting process by reviewing applications, issuing permits, scheduling inspections, and serving as a primary point of contact for contractors, developers, and the public.As a Permit Technician, you will:
- Permitting:
- Provide routine information about the County’s permitting process.
- Process permit applications and issuances.
- Calculate permit fees and collect fees pertinent to the Inspections Department.
- Assist in all aspects of the permitting process as needed.
- Scheduling:
- Schedule inspections, maintain the inspector’s workload, confirm that all inspection results have been entered, and ensure all other aspects of the scheduling process are met.
- Direct release of final and temporary certificates of occupancy.
- Handle red tags and complaints.
- Collect fees pertinent to the Inspections Department.
- Assist in permit filing and maintain numeric permit files as needed.
- Provide routine information about the County’s inspection programs and procedures.
- Must possess a high school diploma or a GED.
- Entry-level secretarial, clerical, and computer experience performed in a similar professional work environment.
- Familiarity with AS400 software is preferred.
- Must meet the State certification requirements for permit technicians within 18 months of employment.
