Description
An established and highly regarded financial services business is looking to appoint a technically strong, hands-on Finance Manager to join its close-knit team in Cape Town.This is an excellent opportunity for a CA(SA) who enjoys taking genuine ownership of a finance function and wants exposure beyond traditional reporting. You’ll work across two licensed financial services entities, with responsibility spanning financial reporting, controls, regulatory and tax submissions, audit, board reporting and ongoing process improvement.With much of the day-to-day administration outsourced, this is not a transactional finance role. It offers broad oversight and the opportunity to work closely with senior management, auditors, actuaries, regulators and external service providers.
What you will be doing:
- Own the month-end and year-end close process across the relevant entities
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, budgets and financial reporting to executive management
- Prepare quarterly finance reporting for the Board
- Compile IFRS-compliant annual financial statements and manage the annual audit process
- Liaise with external and internal auditors and actuaries
- Review and oversee relevant regulatory submissions to the Prudential Authority, FSCA and SARB
- Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity and solvency requirements
- Review VAT, provisional and annual income tax calculations and oversee relevant tax submissions
- Maintain strong financial controls through the review of transactions, journals, investments, fees, accruals and reconciliations
- Oversee AUM and policyholder asset reporting and authorise weekly payments
- Manage the relationship with the outsourced administrator, including reporting quality and fee reconciliations
- Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes and introduce greater automation
- Support and guide other members of the finance team
The role provides substantial end-to-end responsibility across reporting, audit, regulatory compliance, tax, controls and administrator oversight.
