About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing healthcare services business operating across a number of complementary areas within the healthcare and patient services sector. The business is undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, moving towards a more structured, process-driven and management-led environment.
As the organisation continues to scale, they are looking for a high-potential Financial Manager who can take ownership of the financial function, strengthen processes and controls, and progressively grow into a broader financial leadership position.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who wants more than a traditional accounting role and has the drive to develop into a Financial Director within approximately 1–2 years, based on performance and capability.
The Role
The successful candidate will initially be hands-on across the financial operation, gaining a deep understanding of the business before progressively taking greater ownership and leadership responsibility.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day financial processing and bookkeeping
- Completing bank and account reconciliations
- Managing billing, invoicing and financial administration
- Monitoring debtors and supporting collections
- Managing medical-aid authorisations and related administration
- Ensuring financial information is accurately captured and maintained
- Working with financial and healthcare systems
- Supporting accurate monthly financial reporting
- Identifying financial risks, discrepancies and revenue leakage
- Developing and improving financial controls and processes
- Creating meaningful financial reports and management scorecards
- Analysing financial performance and identifying trends and variances
- Providing management with commercially relevant financial insights
- Developing and documenting efficient financial processes and SOPs
- Identifying opportunities to reduce manual administration and improve productivity
- Taking increasing ownership of the overall financial function
Key Performance Areas
Success in the role will be measured across:
Financial Accuracy & Timeliness
Ensuring financial transactions, billing, bookkeeping and supporting documentation are accurate and completed within agreed deadlines.
Financial Controls & Reconciliations
Maintaining accurate reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and strengthening financial controls.
Revenue & Debtors Management
Ensuring services are billed correctly, outstanding accounts are monitored and collections are followed through effectively.
Financial Reporting
Providing accurate and timely financial information that enables management to understand business performance and make informed decisions.
Process Improvement
Identifying inefficient processes, reducing unnecessary manual work and implementing practical systems and controls that allow the business to scale.
Commercial Financial Management
Moving beyond simply reporting numbers to understanding what the numbers mean, why performance is changing and what actions should be taken.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with high potential, ambition and the desire to build a long-term career in financial leadership.
You should be:
- Commercially minded and able to connect finance to business performance
- Analytical, but equally comfortable getting involved in practical tasks
- Highly accountable and willing to take ownership
- Comfortable working with detail and financial administration
- A natural problem solver who looks for better ways of doing things
- Resilient and able to perform in a fast-paced, growing business
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Coachable and open to learning and development
- Confident communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Ambitious and motivated by progression
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a broader management team
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant degree, diploma or professional accounting/finance qualification
- Approximately 2–5 years' relevant financial/accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial processes
- Experience with reconciliations, invoicing, debtors and financial reporting
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Experience with Xero would be advantageous
- Experience within healthcare or medical-aid administration would be highly advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Excellent attention to detail
Medical-aid and healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential. An exceptional, ambitious accounting professional from another industry will be considered where they demonstrate the right technical ability, attitude and potential.
Your Growth Path
This role is designed for someone who wants to grow with the business.
Initially, your focus will be on understanding and taking control of the financial operation. From there, you will be expected to improve processes, strengthen controls, develop reporting and progressively take ownership of the wider financial function.
The long-term opportunity is to develop into a Financial Director-level position, with increasing responsibility for financial strategy, commercial decision-making and business performance.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing and dynamic healthcare organisation where your contribution will have a direct impact on the development of the business.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Take ownership of a growing financial function
- Work closely with senior management
- Drive meaningful process improvements
- Develop your commercial and strategic finance skills
- Receive ongoing coaching and development
- Build systems and processes that support business growth
- Progress into a senior financial leadership position
If you are ambitious, commercially minded and ready to take the next step in your finance career, this could be the opportunity to build something rather than simply manage something that already exists.
