Description
We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Aluminium team, with the role based from either our Birmingham or Preston site.
In this commercially focused role, you will be responsible for developing and growing business opportunities across our aluminium product portfolio, including extruded aluminium, fabricated solutions, and value-added Materials as a Service (MaaS) offerings. Working closely with both new and existing customers, you will build long-term partnerships, identify opportunities to expand our product and service offering, and ensure profitable, sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the growth of our extruded aluminium, fabrication, and Materials as a Service (MaaS) offerings by identifying and converting new business opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow revenue, profitability, and market share across existing and target accounts.
- Build strong relationships with both new and existing customers, understanding their requirements and developing tailored solutions to meet their needs.
- Identify opportunities in new markets, sectors, and customer segments to expand the business portfolio.
- Deliver against agreed sales, revenue, and margin targets while supporting wider business growth objectives.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process to achieve EBIT and tkVA targets.
- Proactively generate business opportunities through customer visits, networking, promotional activity, and business development outreach.
- Monitor the performance of allocated customer accounts, identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, and increased profitability.
- Promote the company's full range of products, services, and value-added capabilities, ensuring solutions are aligned to customer requirements.
- Prepare professional sales quotations, proposals, contracts, and tender responses in line with customer and business requirements.
- Support the development of strategic bids, presentations, and commercial proposals for key opportunities.
- Manage customer contracts from enquiry through to delivery, ensuring commitments and service levels are consistently achieved.
- Maintain customer stock agreements, contract reports, and inventory management activities using SAP and other business systems.
- Process sales orders and maintain accurate customer, contract, and sales data as required.
- Track and report on sales activity, revenue performance, invoicing, and pipeline opportunities.
- Provide excellent customer service throughout the contract lifecycle, including ongoing account management and after-sales support.
- Coordinate activities across internal departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure contract deliverables are achieved on time and to the required standard.
- Work closely with Credit Control to support cash collection activities and manage customer credit limits appropriately.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, compliance requirements, and relevant industry regulations.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the position and business requirements.

- Proven experience in a commercial, account management, contracts management, business development, or sales-focused role.
- Demonstrable track record of achieving sales, revenue, or profitability targets.
- Experience managing customer relationships and delivering high levels of customer service.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities for growth.
- Effective planning, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage contracts, quotations, and commercial agreements accurately.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, metals, or related commercial environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and driven to achieve results.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn new products, services, and market sectors.
- Able to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing business demands.
Desirable Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of aluminium extrusions, fabrication, or value-added manufacturing services.
- Understanding of Materials as a Service (MaaS) or similar service-based commercial models.
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience preparing and delivering customer presentations, proposals, and commercial bids.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
