Position Summary...
About Walmart BusinessWalmart Business is a new omnichannel experience to save businesses, nonprofits and governments time, money, and hassle so they can focus on their missions. We leverage existing Walmart assets and build new capabilities to better serve B2B customers. We’re bringing together the Every Day Low Prices (EDLP), assortment, delivery speed and omni capabilities of Walmart with new experiences and functionality tailored to the unique needs of organizations.
We are seeking an experienced, high energy, growth-oriented Senior Director, Strategy and Customer Insights to lead growth strategy, customer insights, PMO and operational excellence across our entire business. This is an exciting time to join Walmart Business as we accelerate and an unprecedented opportunity to impact the B2B eCommerce industry. You’ll have the chance to scale a new business while being backed by the strength of Walmart and having access to the assets of the world's largest omnichannel retailer.
This role will report to the SVP and GM, Walmart Business and be part of the Walmart Business leadership team.
What you'll do...
This leader will be instrumental in igniting customer-led growth and focusing the business on what matters most. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team and partner across eCommerce, Walmart US, Enterprise organizations, and external partners to drive three key domain areas: Business Strategy and Growth Initiatives, Customer Insights and Research, and Portfolio Excellence.
This role will be responsible for the following business levers:
- Business Strategy and Planning: Shape the overall strategic direction of Walmart Business; own the 5-year Long-Range Plan (LRP), Annual Operating Plan (AOP), customer segmentation frameworks, and competitor intelligence.
- Growth Initiatives: Own strategic whitespace explorations. Identify and describe potential growth opportunities for Walmart Business. Deepen and make actionable ideas surfaced across the Leadership Team. For example, how do we monetize our B2B customer base?
- Customer Insights: Drive systematic synthesis of customer feedback across always-on feedback tools, CES, and Sales to surface customer signals; lead primary quantitative and qualitative research programs (including NPS); and foster organizational customer empathy via customer advisory boards, ethnographies, and Voice2Action dashboards.
- Portfolio Excellence: Lead PMO operations, portfolio-wide reporting, and Big Rock Initiative (BRI) health scorecards; identify cross-portfolio gaps, coordinate cross-BRI planning, and execute clear path-to-green strategies for off-track initiatives.
- Executive Communications and Enterprise Partnerships: Own executive communications that shape how Walmart Business strategy is actioned across the enterprise (eComm MBRs/QBRs, WMUS MSM) and partner across Enterprise teams to unlock strategic synergies (e.g., International).
- AI and Operational Innovation: Identify and execute opportunities where AI and modern capabilities reduce manual effort, increase speed to insight, elevate decision quality, and support day-to-day customer and portfolio operations.
You’ll make an impact when you:
- Act like a general manager: You will be both the strategy and customer insights expert and a member of the Leadership Team, expected to wear a “general manager” hat and help to steward the overall business.
- Operate on two horizons simultaneously: Be scrappy to develop short term solutions to serve the customer and test and learn—while working in parallel toward the medium-term vision.
- Are results driven: Motivate and support your team, and educate and align additional stakeholders to achieve results. FY27-FY28 are key to accelerating our business to hit our LRP. We need to be clear about the required capabilities and disciplined about accountability to deliver them on time.
- Achieve outcomes in the right way: Building teams and culture consistent with our values; holding a high bar on both performance and care; partnering with counterparts in ways that achieve mutual wins.
- A relentless advocate for the organizations we serve
- A strong communicator who leads with why
- A tenacious operator who can develop and execute an ambitious plan, and raises the bar for performance
- A mature leader who can work effectively with peers and in a matrixed organization, builds trust quickly, leads through influence, and is able to debate ideas fiercely and then disagree and commit
- A change champion who demonstrates curiosity and a growth mindset, fosters an environment that supports learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking, and exhibits resilience in the face of setbacks
- A committed teammate who understands there’s no room for “my side of the ship isn’t sinking”
- A people leader who attracts and retains a highly skilled, diverse and engaged group of associates
- A servant leader who is humble, self-aware, honest, and transparent, lives the Walmart values, and maintains and promotes the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance
