$61,733.50 - $77,166.85JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position assists in coordination and development of marketing Initiatives and storytelling throughout the department. This position creates content, manages social media and plans, develops, and conducts market benchmarking studies, analyzes marketing trends, and provides recommendations to aid in decision making.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Self-motivated to develop marketing and storytelling initiatives to promote the department, City brand, and to increase sales and spotlight projects and initiatives for various revenue-based business units within the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.
• Plan, develop and implement market segmentation and market position studies, determine target markets for various programs and facilities, analyze demographic and parks & recreation trends and conduct benchmarking studies to aid in decision making.
• Conduct research studies and recommendations for implementation related to potential new products, services and programs not currently offered by the department for both revenue and non-revenue-based operations.
• Plan, develop, conduct, analyze, and make recommendations to various program managers on program performance data related to marketing research activities, such as success rates, fill rates, participation rates, membership sales and reservations.
• Track measures to show the effectiveness of campaigns, advertising and promotions on programs and associated revenue.
• Coordinate customer relationship building, which includes determining core customers and analyzing customer retention data from sales reports, memberships, user groups and surveys.
• Understand end users’ needs and develop promotional efforts to attract them to products and services offered by the department.
• Develop marketing materials, including social media, videos website news stories, and creative marketing publications consistent with the Parks and Recreation and City brands through various forms of graphic design, social media and software.
• Maintain maximum compatibility of all materials for the end-user and also for subsequent use.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Become embedded within the organization to assist in the implementation of various social media efforts, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, email, text messaging marketing and YouTube, to engage customers in Parks and Recreation programs and events.
• Plan and implement programs such as, but not limited to, focus groups, public events and special meetings.
• Assist in the training of other employees on software utilization, office and work location procedures involving social media, customer service and marketing protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Youtube, and social media management tools.
• Knowledge of email marketing techniques and principles.

• Knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures related to media communication.

• Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Public Relations, Social Media, or Marketing, plus a minimum of 3-5 years of related practical experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Possession of a valid Texas Operator’s License, Class C, with good driving record required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Experience in municipal Parks and Recreation is preferred, but not required.
