Our colleagues have the opportunity to grow and develop a career that offers both individual and company success, be part of an ownership culture that values diversity, and contribute to meaningful breakthroughs for patients and communities.
Right now, we are seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of:
Director Medical Affairs Oncology Portfolio (m/f/d)
Global Job Level: J100 / Director
Reports to: Senior Director Medical Affairs Oncology
Application information: Please apply with motivation letter and CV
About the Role
Oncology is a dedicated Therapeutic Area and key strategic growth pillar under Pfizer Germany’s Strategic Roadmap 2030, with an ambition to deliver eight cancer breakthroughs by 2030 across solid tumors and hematology. Medical Affairs serves as the scientific engine of the Oncology organization — translating pioneering science into meaningful impact for patients, HCPs, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
This visible leadership role owns an integrated, cross-indication medical strategy across breast cancer and hematology — spanning in-line brands and their pipeline — maximizing scientific value across the lifecycle from launch through in-line management and loss of exclusivity, reflected in high-quality evidence, launch readiness, and effective collaboration with GSSO and the International Medical organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Vision
Define the multi-year Medical Affairs strategy across the in-line and pipeline portfolio in breast cancer and hematology in Germany, aligned with the Strategic Roadmap 2030 and the global Oncology strategy, balancing priorities across multiple indications and assets while maintaining clear medical independence and compliance boundaries.
Establish Portfolio Medical Affairs as the trusted scientific voice across breast cancer and hematology, shaping a clear medical impact narrative across the portfolio.
Ecosystem Leadership
Build trusted partnerships across the clinical recruitment ecosystem, including HCPs, KOLs, patient organizations, professional societies, payers, policy makers, public-health institutions, digital-health stakeholders, and academic networks.
Shape the breast cancer and hematology landscape in Germany through engagement with relevant healthcare decision-makers, using systematic insight generation to translate healthcare-system needs and patient-journey gaps into actionable medical priorities.
Scientific Leadership, Evidence Generation & Clinical Studies
Own the Portfolio Medical Plan and integrated cross-indication evidence strategy, leading generation, interpretation, and communication of scientific evidence — real-world evidence, epidemiology, registries, investigator-sponsored research, medical education, and publications — where applicable and compliant.
Collaborate with the International Medical organization, global medical, clinical development, HEOR, access, and regulatory colleagues to ensure local insights inform broader planning and are aligned across markets.
Closely collaborate with GSSO on clinical study execution across the portfolio in Germany, including Country Outreach, study-site identification, and recruitment based on local scientific and healthcare-system insights.
Utilize advanced analytics and AI-enabled insight synthesis to accelerate scientific impact, improve diagnosis rates and patient outcomes, and support healthcare-system decision-making.
Market Access (Medical/Scientific Support)
Provide medical/scientific support on market access strategies and benefit dossiers across the portfolio, owning the medical evidence and scientific-narrative input, anticipating added-benefit evidence gaps and supporting data generation to close them, in partnership with Access & Value.
Launch & Lifecycle Excellence
Lead Medical launch and lifecycle readiness across the breast cancer and hematology pipeline, in-line brands, indication extensions, and events including loss of exclusivity, ensuring Medical Affairs and Field Medical scientific readiness.
Drive differentiation across indications through evidence generation, medical storytelling, and scientific engagement.
Leadership & Talent
Build, develop, and inspire a high-performing Portfolio Medical team across Medical Affairs and Field Medical (MAS), fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.
Attract, retain, and grow top scientific talent through succession planning and development, dedicating a substantial share of leadership time to coaching, feedback, and clear prioritization.
Drive alignment within the Medical Leadership Team to share capabilities and drive joint success across therapeutic areas.
AI, Innovation & Medical Transformation
Champion responsible, compliant use of AI — with human oversight of AI-generated outputs — and build AI fluency and sound scientific judgment across the team.
Simplify ways of working and eliminate low-value activities to maximize time for scientific exchange and patient impact.
Compliance & Scientific Integrity
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and Pfizer policy requirements — upholding the non-promotional boundary, scientific integrity, pharmacovigilance, medical governance, and balanced scientific communication.
