About the Role
As part of Pfizer Germany’s Strategic Roadmap 2030, Vaccines will become a dedicated Therapeutic Area and strategic growth pillar. Medical Affairs will advance the Double Vaccines 2030 ambition through scientific leadership, evidence generation, stakeholder engagement and medical innovation.
Medical Affairs is the scientific engine of Vaccines, translating science into impact for patients, HCPs and the healthcare ecosystem. Through evidence, communication, partnerships and responsible AI-enabled ways of working, Vaccines Medical helps improve vaccination coverage and public-health outcomes in Germany.
While commercial success is measured through revenue growth and business performance, the success of Vaccines Medical is reflected in the generation and communication of high-quality evidence, scientific leadership, stakeholder trust, and ultimately improved vaccination uptake across priority populations.
This role combines scientific credibility, strategic thinking, organizational change, team leadership and external engagement to advance public health and support Pfizer’s leadership in prevention.
What You'll Shape
Strategy & Vision
Contribute to the multi-year Medical Affairs strategy for Vaccines in Germany, aligned with Strategic Roadmap 2030, country medical priorities, global Vaccines strategy and local public-health needs.
Support Vaccines Medical as a trusted scientific partner for healthcare professionals, scientific societies, policy makers, public-health institutions and cross-functional Pfizer partners.
Help shape a medical impact narrative that complements the Commercial Vaccines ambition while maintaining medical independence, scientific integrity and compliance boundaries.
Prevention Ecosystem Leadership
Build trusted partnerships across the evolving prevention and vaccination ecosystem, including HCPs, KOLs, patient organizations, professional societies, payers, policy makers, public-health institutions, digital-health stakeholders and academic networks.
Shape the vaccination landscape in Germany through engagement with STIKO, RKI, BMG, scientific societies and relevant healthcare decision-makers, within applicable compliance standards.
Use systematic insight generation to translate healthcare-system needs, patient-journey gaps and stakeholder perspectives into actionable medical priorities.
Scientific Leadership & Evidence Generation
Help shape the Vaccines Medical Plan and evidence strategy.
Lead scientific evidence generation and communication.
Use analytics and AI-enabled insights to strengthen medical impact.
Turn medical insights into actions that improve vaccination outcomes.
Launch & Pipeline Excellence
Support Medical launch readiness across the Vaccines portfolio and pipeline.
Help prepare Medical and Field Medical teams across the product lifecycle.
Enable scientific differentiation through evidence and external engagement.
Contribute to pandemic preparedness and immunization strategies in Germany.
Cross-functional Leadership & One Pfizer
Partner with the Vaccines Marketing Director and key cross-functional, global and international stakeholders.
Support aligned planning and execution while upholding scientific integrity and non-promotional boundaries.
Share compliant stakeholder, competitor and patient insights to inform medical strategy.
Contribute to country and above-country priorities with credibility and clarity.
Leadership & Talent

Serve as a role model for AI Fluency, scientific judgement, human oversight, responsible data stewardship and compliance with Pfizer’s responsible-AI principles.
Simplify ways of working and challenge low-value activities so the team can focus on scientific impact and patient-relevant outcomes.
Compliance & Scientific Integrity
Ensure all Vaccines Medical activities comply with country-specific legal, regulatory and Pfizer policy parameters governing medical interactions and promotional activity.
Uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethical conduct, pharmacovigilance, product complaint handling and medical governance.
Ensure information shared with HCPs and other stakeholders is accurate, balanced, current and appropriately contextualized.
What You'll Bring
Experience
Experience in Medical Affairs leadership within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Strong expertise in Vaccines, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Public Health, Prevention or related therapeutic areas strongly preferred.
Proven track record in evidence generation, scientific communication, stakeholder engagement, launch excellence and lifecycle management.
Demonstrated success leading organizations and high-performing teams through transformation.
Experience navigating healthcare policy, reimbursement systems, scientific societies and public-health stakeholders in Germany.
Scientific & Technical Expertise
Medical degree, pharmacy degree, PhD or equivalent advanced scientific qualification required.
Scientific credibility and recognized expertise in Medical Affairs, with the ability to engage as a trusted peer with senior external stakeholders.
Strong understanding of clinical research, real-world evidence, epidemiology, medical governance, local healthcare systems and regulatory environments.
Experience with STIKO-relevant evidence generation, vaccination recommendations, prevention strategies or healthcare-system decision-making is highly desirable.
Comfort with digital and AI-enabled ways of working; ability to critically appraise AI-generated output for scientific accuracy, bias and appropriate use in a regulated medical context.
Fluent business and medical English.
German (native or C1-level) mandatory.
